we stayed for three nights at WIRA.. the place is about 5-10 minutes walk from Termini on the left side from the station(Also the place where Ryanair buses stop at Termini). It has a very tiny and slow lift but it works.. We had booked for a double bed private ensuite and I think the privates are on one side of the block with an separate door(u get the keys of both this door as well as that for your room) this section also has a teeny weeny kitchen where u can do ur own stuff if u want. there are three rooms if i remember correctly each based on certain theme(We were on Americas I think).. though there was one on India as well(:)). Rooms are small but sufficient and bathroom is also small but fine. The places clean so no worries abotu that. Breakfast coupons is what you get free for a small cafe close by(next street). includes some croissant besides coffee. also free wifi in rooms with cable channels and TV if u r interested in that.Cost us around 42 each or rather 84 euro for a night which was ok i think for a place close by termini, free bfast and clean place. Infact at the time of checking out I was supposed to pay through credit card and the guy at the counter was just not able to ghet the machine work.. and I didnt have that much cash at hand(actually i did but i thought i didnt .. found it later in paris :).. thank god) The guy called some other chap of the hotel and he got my cerdit card details to swipe onlin.. he said uits been done and we left... only to receive a mail after I returned to India that that payment didnt finally go through.(It didnt actually) and paid through paypal finally.
Lesson being do carry cash as credit card may not work.. although i didnt want to give card details to the guy on fon.. fortunately it was not misused .. at least not till now..:)
When stuck for some accomodation in Rome we were shown this convent hostel run by the sisters of the Vietnamese side of the Catholic church. They run this place like a hotel. You get your own room with bathroom. They also serve breakfast in a dining room. It is very basic but it is very clean. For 50 Euros per night it is the cheapest accomodation you will find ( most hotels start at 200 Euros) and only 10 minutes from the Vatican by bus. Bus departs from out the front on the main street. Buses 49 and 46 take you straight into central Roma to the attractions.
Dont stay out too late at night though....the front gates close at 11pm!! Some views of the Vatican in the distance from the front balconies.
Elegant tuscan Rome accommodation
by Jenniflower about Navona Apartment
We couldnt have stayed at a more perfect place than here. We were so happy with it. High ceilings, cool floors and tasteful decor.. all led to a delightful stay.
The pictures below speak for themselves! There were 5 adults and a baby and we didnt feel claustrophobic staying there at all.
Name of hostess: Mariani Maria Rosaria A lovely family own this apartment - they showed us around when we arrived and were so hospitable and friendly. A pleasure to deal with!
The decor is tuscan in style and comfortable. Taps are brass and there is lovely artwork on all the walls. There is reading material available in various languages, and a gorgeous (albeit out-of-tune!lol) piano forte to dabble on. A real treat.
It is close to so much in the city centre, the Pantheon, St Peters, Piazza Navona (finest example of Baroque architceture in Europe imho), and the Spar! lol It being self catering, supplies and groceries were important, and this was on the way to the Pantheon.. about a 8 minute walk away.
Special mention, which Mariana emailed to us!
By car: ZTL (ZONA TRAFFICO LIMITATO)TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS Monday through Friday from 6.30 to 18.00 and Saturday from 14.00 to 18.00 you are not allowed to drive todowntown of Rome, unless you are a resident or you are granted a special permission. All 22 streets accessing the so-called "Limited Traffic Zone" have been equipped with electronic access detection devices, which are able to detect and record illegal access of vehicles. This electronic access detection system "reads" the plate numbers of vehicles illegally accessing the Zone and the vehicle owners will receive a fine at home.

Rome accomodation
by jordi.aparicio
We are a group of 5 guys that will visit Rome this november 2005 for 4 days.
We are looking for accomodation next to the night life city center.I have readed in a guide that should be next to piazza Navona or Trestevere. Is this correct? Can anyone recommend B&B or hostel (double with bath) that cost Euro 20-25 each person in this place?
Thanks

Hi
What about an apartment? This one is near Piazza Navona and is 150E or 30E each a night - http://www.renthomeinrome.com. Lots of others. Just Google.
Hope this helps.

Hi worldinabag,
I have seen the webpage of the appartment and it seems it is a good solution. The price is quite good and the situation is near perfect.
Have you been in that appartment?
Thanks

Ok, thank you. I think that we will go there.
I am agree with you that it is placed in a cool place, near Campo di Fiore and Piazza Navona with a lot of nighlife.
