Capuchin Crypt Open Again!
UPDATE: Jan 2005 - open again after being closed for a year.
The slightly bizarre Capuchin Crypt in Santa Maria della Concezione, is located on Via Veneto, near Piazza Barberini. It's definitely worth a visit. Seven rooms deocorated with mosaics, designs, even lanterns hanging from the ceiling, made from thousands of the brothers' bones.
Yes, really their actual bones! Piles and piles of them. Rosettes made of hip bones and vertebrae. Arches made of skulls.
It's fascinating and creepy at the same time.
Most kids LOVE this place.
Alitalia - The Italian Airline
Alitalia was a good airline to wisk you off to Rome. It sets the mood of the country before you arrive. The airline food was Italian and so was the wine.
My favorite part of the flight was watching the flight attendents flirt with the Italian passengers.

Ancient Roman Port City
Ostia Antica was the port city for ancient Rome. The ruins here are absolutely amazing, with everything from public baths to ancient apartments. I went on a Sunday morning in August, and for awhile the only other tourists we saw were a few nuns. There is a small musuem, a snack bar, and a small gift shop on site.
