Villa d'Este by Goner
Villa d'Este is a beautiful country residence built in the 16th century for Cardinal Ippolito d'Este from the shell of a benedictine monastery. The gardens and terraces are draped with moss and have suffered from the reduced waterpressure and polluted waters due to neglect. However you can still sense how spectacular it was as a Roman retreat.
