Travel Tips for Chiavari
Lavagna is in walking distance !
Lavagna is almost in Walking-distance from Chiavari and somehow, I have to say, I liked it more, because of the big number of lovely old houses there and the fact, that I found an easy parking free of charge for my motorhome there.
My favorite place there , besides the Marina, was the cemetery with a lot of great and touching sculptures.
Also the church looks really beautiful.

Monterosso - in "Cinque terre"
Monterosso al Mare is the ONLY of the villages in Cinque terre with a sandy beach...
...but maybe it is less romantic than the other 4 villages of Cinque terre !
But it is a lovely place anyway with great old houses and a wonderful, rather wide beach-boulevard .
And it offers a big parking directely on the beach , in case that you would like to go there with your own car from Chiavari.
Monterosso is the very first of the 5 villages that you get to , when arriving by train from Chiavari.
It certainly makes sense to start your walk through 5terre in Monterosso walking to Vernazza and all the other villages and you will emerge deeper and deeper , step by step into the different world of these remote villages.

Chiavari & the biggest pan in the world
Camogli is a lovely town situated directely on the Ligurian Coast, about 30 Km east of Genua and just a few Km west of Chiavari.
Each year this small town has a big festivity and to feed everyone, they use the biggest pan in the whole world - and when you walk from the trainstation to the beach-boulevard, you may see this pan, standing on a wall, waiting for the next festival... ( see a pic of it on my link below !!)
Chiavari at the Ligurian Coast
C H I A V A R I is a medium-sized coastal town at the Ligurian coast, halfway between Cinque Terre and Genoa. I would have never known this place if it wasn't for VT and my VT friend Chiara (Pollon).
In September 2004, we had booked a week vacation in Tuscany but also wanted to meet Chiara, so somewhere between Pisa (our city of arrival) and Genoa (home station of Chiara) we decided to meet. Chiavari was the perfect place for this meeting.
