Hotel Punta Est

A Welcome Break in a Long Rail Trip

Perched on a hillside overlooking the beaches of Finale, the hotel was originally a villa, which has been added to over the years. Rooms are large, with shutered views to the Sea. This was our 5th visit to Punta Est & Finale Ligure, it's a restful place to recharge amid a frantic rail or auto journey. It is quite a hike up to the hotel, though you can order the golf cart to bring you up if you can't take the walkway or stairs. For this reason it is very peaceful, something the town of Finale doesn't get until late into the night. With windows open at night, you hear the waves lapping on shore. The breakfast on the terrace in the morning is a sumptuous buffet, and your table is your table for your entire stay. Dinners on the terrace are excellent as well, you can take half board, which is what we'll do next time. There is a plethora of bars, pastacerias & restaurants on the promenade in town, but the food is marginal, and the menus all look alike after a couple of days. Lots of night life if that's what you're into, but we come here for peace & to recharge.

Unique Quality: New on this visit, there is a redwood hot tub (though not too hot on our stay in August), inside a cave, which also serves as a bar in the afternoon. The experience in the cool cave after coming up from the hot beach is awesome. There is also a shower and cold plunge, so you can really relax after a day of sightseeing or beach activities.
