Budget Hotel that's not worth the money
Genoa was an absolutely beautiful city. The only part of our experience was marred was due to this hotel. It is a budget hotel very close to the train station, however you still expect something better than what was provided.
The room was very smoky/dusty, especially when heater was turned on. The hot water was sporadic--either too much or none at all. There were three electric plugs in the room, but only one worked. Breakfast consisted of a couple of pastries and prepackaged sweets. Nothing healthy like bread or cheese. The "double bed" was just two twin beds pushed together, which would spread apart when someone would lie in the middle. This made it hard to sleep as a couple. Even though it said on the web that there is 24 hour reception, in the hotel there was a clear sign at the reception that said reception closed at 11pm. And to top things off, a window shutter fell on us when we opened it.
On the plus side, the location is very good. Literally two minutes walk from the train station, and on a main street that quickly leads into the winding maze of old town. It's also cheap for Genoa, but overall it was low quality even for a budget hotel.
