Cheap but far

This huge student accommodation building doubles as a hostel. Italian Hostel rules can be quite strict; single sex floors, lock out from 10 to 3, and definitely no parties at night :-(
Take bus no 40 from Brignolle train station.

Unique Quality: No atmosphere, but breakfast included

The hostel with a great scenic view

It is a Hostelling International (HI) hostel. An HI membership card is required to stay. Although this hostel allows non memebers to stay here, as I wasnt a member, but an extra fee may apply. Or you can get a membership card before your trip. But it really isnt worth it as the fee is about a euro or two extra.
Whatever you pay its worth the money to stay here. Its a bif of a hike to the hostel at Genoa has many hills, but the bus drops you off right outside.
It has clean rooms and showering facilites with cublicles and hot water.
The only inconvience is the lock out time 10.00 - 15.30.

Unique Quality: Breakfast included
No curfew
Lockers
Scenic view from hostel of the port
Sheets included
Phone
Internet
Vending machine
Offer a choice of cheap meals

Hostel In Genoa

I got good service. Rooms are ok, toilets and showers are in corridor.
If you don´t mind the curfew and bustrip/walk from the centre, i recommend this because it´s peaceful and cheap (14.5 euros/night).

Unique Quality: From the hostel is a great view to the ocean.

The cheapest way to sleep in Genova

The hostel in Genoa is very far from the centre, up on the hill above the town. It will take you about 30/40 mins from the 2 railway stations to get there with the bus. Don't even try to go there on foot, unless you are Reinhold Messner! ;-)
It's an official hostel, so you need the IYHF card in order to sleep there.
The hostel staff speak English but, IMHO, is not so friendly, there is a curfew at 1am, and you MUST leave the room at 9am also if you stay there for more nights. You can go back to the room after 3.30pm.
There are lockers outside the rooms, but you have to use your own lock, or buy one.

My opinion: go there only on really budget travel, otherwise avoid it, the cons are more than the pros.

Unique Quality: 213 beds 8 beds per room (male and female not together, we are puritans!) with showers and toilets on the same floor
4 beds per room with bathroom facilities for families and group leaders.
Bar with cold and hot dishes.
Great view of the town.
No physical barriers.

Hostel on top of the hill!!!

A lovely place to stay on the top of the hill in Genoa with a beautiful view of the harbour and light house too!!! Most friendly and helpful staff made it feel more like home rather than a hostel!!! Great atmosphere and location!!! Would love to come back just to stay there!!! It gets full pretty fast, so do make reservations well in advance to avoid disappointments later!!!

Hostel Genova

12 EUR/night

Unique Quality: I booked it but didn't end up there at the end (because things turned out more favorable!). But I heard it's a very good hostel.
