Cosy, old-fashioned hotel with friendly staff. Located right next to the Principe Railway Station (also one of the largest bus stops and local within-city trains), so it was fantastically easy to get to the further parts of Genoa or outside the city, though the best way to explore the Old Town was walkin', walkin' and walking! Porto Antico is 15 min by foot. During my stay there were not many guests, which contributed to the friendly family-like atmosphere. Rooms with AC, television, direct telephone line; breakfast good though not much variety, served daily until 10 am. Also it could get a little bit noisier on weekdays mornings, and if you're a light sleeper ask for room that doesn't face Salita Provvidenza and Railway station and it will be perfectly OK.
From the Airport: take Volabus to the last stop- Principe Station. Then 50 metres up the hill, past Columbus statue.
From Brignole Railway Station: take any train that goes to Principe (usually commuter trains from Nervi, Rapallo or Recco, you can use so-called 'integrated' bus tickets, one stop, around 3 minutes), then up the hill...
From Porto Antico: try walking... :) from Aquarium go west until Via Delle Fontane, take it until you reach Piazza Della Nunziata, turn left on Balbi street and right to the end, the hotel will be on your right... but if you don't want to get lost immediately, try subway/metro (metropolitana), direction Brin, get off at 'Principe'; then walk up the Via Andrea Doria past Principe Railway.
