Views of via Balbi from our room
by Mikebond
These photos show what we could see from the first room we were given at Hotel Nuovo Nord. Unfortunately, we had to ask to have it changed after a sleepless night due to the noises coming from the street.
Via Balbi is not as famous as via Garibaldi, but it still has some beautiful palaces to show.
No dinner??!!
by sim1
The life of a VT’er is not always that easy! Chiara missed out on her dinner because she picked us up at the airport. As we all felt sorry for her we donated the evening snacks to her so she at least could eat something.
Palazzo San Giorgio
by globetrott
Palazzo San Giorgio is a bit hidden by the bridges of the highway passing by at the old port.
Once this building was the townhall in the 13th century, lateron the tax-authority and a bank since 1400.
Today it is the seat of the port authority and you may even visit some of the great rooms of the palace (Mo-Sat 10.00 a.m.-06.00 p.m.)
--------------------------------------------------------------------- many of these building have been recently restored in order to present a clean town for the G-8 summit...

My fren called his colleague who's originally from Genoa for some travelling insight.. She recommend the famous PANIFICIO MARIO.. 5 minutes walking distance from the train station. To me, it was a brilliant idea to grab something warm to eat at that moment. :) We got here before noon, there were a lot of locals queueing.. my fren's colleague was right.. the Focaccia was veeeery tasty!!!

Going to the theatre
by Carletto76 about Politeama Genovese
The Politeama Genovese is traditionally the "drama" theater in Genova, but you can assist also to pop concerts and caparet shows too, it depends on the evening. It has 1056 seats of which 930 at the ground floor and 126 upstairs. It's a drama theatre, so it is supposed to dress in a decent way, but also casual wear is ok.
