Ferry to Portofino

by radcliffebmw

Hi, my boss will be in Genoa this week and wants to take a ferry from Genoa to Portofino on Saturday morning, staying over night and returning to Genoa Sunday afternoon. I am finding it difficult to get information on the web in English. He will be staying close to the ferrys in Genoa but I need to find a company who operates the ferries to Portofino, a timetable to and from to be able to give him this information. If anyone can help I would be grateful.

believe it or not they only run in august and september.

Thanks Nicolaitan... I cannot believe that through these summer months there is no ferry to such an important town as Portofino from Genoa... I suppose then the only other way would be via car/limo or rail. I believe the station is out of Portofino and I am not even sure how they would catch it from where they are staying in Genoa.

from genoa, take train to santa margherita ligure. not sure where the bus stop is exactly, but within one or two blocks of the station at the most. take the bus to portofino. parking in portofino is a nightmare, a horrid multilevel carpark and in summer loads of traffic trying to get into it.

will give you train times and fares in English. You need to search for 'Portofino'.

Journey time is around 45 minutes, fare from 2.40 euro.

But as far as I can see (the site below is in Italian) there are ferries at weekends in June, although I may be translating incorrectly. Perhaps a VT-er with better Italian could help?

my personal knowledge is from several years ago but this question came up on a forum question maybe two years ago and hadn't changed. maybe it is a new service. there are several companies running ferries in the area.

Travel Tips for Genoa

My worst football related moment in Genoa

by Calcio

My worst memory from Genoa isn’t actually from the city itself, but something that happened on my way back to Milano. I had been in Genoa for Sampdoria-Milan, and was in a bit of hurry to get back to Milano so that I could see another game there in the evening (Inter-Roma). So, naturally since it was an Italian, the train was late… We stood still, out in nowhere, for I don’t know how long time. It felt like hours, but wasn’t probably more than 50-60 minutes. And without any explanation of course…
In the end I got back to Milano one hour before the next game should begin, and after running faster than the metro (well, almost at least) I got into the stadium five minutes before kick off. Needless to say I was a bit tired after that…

aperitif or dinner?...

by pollon

I also like aperitif so I normally introduce my foreign guests to it which, with the drink, should have also some snacks and the trick is to find or to know places which serves not only nuts and olives but also homemade snacks... and that evening they turned out to be my only meal... because...

The disorders. This picture can be the symbol of what happens if public demonstrations, that MUST be possible, become from one side manipulated by few people and from the other managed by umprepared police officers.
They made their best but I don't want to say more about it. I young man died on july 20th in Genoa, and this fact is enough to say 'stop!' to this kind of summits.

Chiavari, 30 km East of Genoa (towards La Spezia). Whether you enjoy the view, go fishing, hunt interesting creatures (like the one on the photo) or try to catch sight of the rich in the nearby Portofino - it's definitely recommendable as a holiday spot.

Grandi Navi Veloci Ferry from Barcelona's Harbour! In the picture you can see inside this ship, the pub, with the handsome italian waiters. There are 2 jacuzzis inside this ship and a swimming pool, it's great!
