If you have arranged someone to wait for you in Genova, note that there are two train stations situated on the borders of the historic centre and connected by a long tunnel. Arriving from Milan the first and main Genovese station is Stazione Principe. It is situated just above the ancient port.
The other station - Stazione Brignole is situated east from the city centre in a new part of the city built in the 20th Century.
Many trains pass through Genova and stop on both stations, although ones coming from Milan and having Genova as their last stop will end their journey only in Principe.
