Travel to Savona Cruise Port from Genoa airport

by chriskis

How can I get from Genoa Airport to Savona Cruise Port by public transport and how much is it likely to cost?

Re: Travel to Savona Cruise Port from Genoa airport

by qaminari

First you take the airport bus (Volabus 100) to the station for €4: it stops first near Piazza Aquaverde near the PP station: http://www.airport.genova.it/v2/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=67&Itemid=136.
Trains to Savona (+/- 1 hr) start at Genova Brignole, then pass by Genova Piazza Principe Sotterrranea (= underground), which costs €3.30 in 2nd class, €5 in first. Timetable on http://bahn.hafas.de/bin/query.exe/en (or of course trenitalia.com).
From the station in Savona to the cruise port (palocrociere)there is a shuttle but this goes to the ferry terminal, you will have to find out from the cruise company exactly where your ship is docked and it may be easier to take a taxi for +/- €15.
This is in Italian but you can at least see the map of the port: http://www.costacrociere.it/B2C/I/before_board/Ports/Default.htm?&CallPort=SVN
Are you sure your cruise company does not organise any transfer from the airport?

Travel Tips for Genoa

Mini VT-meeting

by sim1

Our trip to the Provence in France, combined with a few days at the Cinque Terra in Italy, started and ended in Genoa. Ryanair had an offer for a flight to Genoa that I just couldn’t resist, hahaha, so I didn’t have to think for long before I booked my ticket! At the end of September I arrived in Genoa, it was already late in the evening. I was thinking of going to bed early that evening, hahaha, but those ideas were soon forgotten the moment I saw Chiara (Pollon) at the airport! Wow, what a welcome to Genoa and what a surprise! Instead of making it an early night it had a mini VT meeting in the old city centre of Genoa. From right to left in this picture : Chiara (Pollon), Paolo (Utttz), Me (Sim1), Åke (former VT’er Akeke), Jane (Oneonta_ni) and her husband.

Opening the bottle of wine! ;-)

by sim1

As you can see the meeting was a lot of fun!!! Hahaha, even the waitress couldn't stop laughing ;-)
We were joking lots about the opening of the bottle of wine, at the first bottle at the beginning of the evening she was quite serious. But on this second one.... hahaha, several camera's were pointing in her directions and we were all laughing out so much, she couldn't stop laughing herself :-))
PS : you can see Paolo grinning in the corner of the picture :-)

Forza Sampdoria!

by bonio

Go to watch a soccer match. Genoa has two teams, Genoa and Sampdoria. Both play in th e Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris, we saw Sampdoria play Ascoli - a 3-0 win for Sampdoria. Loads of bars nearby for a pre match beer. More pics on t'logue.....

Probably the oldest pub in Genova

by Carletto76 about La Polena

I spent so many nights eating and drinking at La Polena, probably all my high school years every saturday night, but also now that I'm older I keep on coming here, among friends, a safe harbour for any night of the year!
La Polena closed at the beginning of the year 2006, but fortunately they reopened, in a new, very beautiful, location few months later, so you can come back there again and enjoy the simple food, good beer, friendly atmosphere and also air conditioning! :)
The owners are very nice people, the beers are good as well as the sandwiches, piadines or pastas, and it's one of the cheapest place to have dinner, at any hour (open every day till 3am). Really not an elegant place, this place is for "real" people, not for fashion shows! :))

foce, brignole railwaystation, stadium

by utttz

get out here if you have to go to the brignole railway station (in the middle of the pic) or Marassi "luigi ferraris" stadium or the international fair (bottom) in the "foce" area.
remember to sit on the left side to check when to exactly get out the plane... from the left you will only sea the sea
