I have been sending emails to the Hotel Palme in Monterosso al Mare info@hotelpalme.org & info@hotelpalme.it for some weeks now to confirm a booking but I have not had a reply. I have also telephoned from Australia and received a recorded message in Italian (which unfortunately I cannot understand) Can anyone help and let me know if their is a problem with Hotel Palme. Regards Lance

I struck the same sort of problem 2 years ago - most of the towns along the CQ almost close down for winter. An amazing part of the world.

Corra (xaver) points out a good fact - that smaller institutions in Italy are often still more comfortable with fax than email. We here on VT saw a similar situation with a hotel in Venice a couple of years ago, where emails were not getting returned...it turns out that only one person at the hotel knew how to read emails, and she was on vacation ;-)
Send the fax...this is the way that the travel industry in Italy has done stuff for decades, so they're familiar with it...and you at least know if a fax machine on the other end received your message - with email, you can never be sure if your message was ever delivered at all...

Monterosso - hotel to train station
by yakman
Doe anyone know the address of the train station in Monterosso? I am trying to find the distance between Hotel Palme and the train station.
thanks

The address of the train station is about Via Fegina, 38. The address of the hotel is Via 4 Novembre, 18. Go to www.viamichelin.com and enter these two addresses as well as Monterosso al Mare and Italy. ALSO, enter the "on foot" option.
The result is a walk of 400 meters. I cannot speak to changes of terrain, and it looks like the first 100-150 meters of Via Fegina is in a tunnel, but I will let people who have been there speak to that...

The hotel website has it's own 'how to reach us' page:
http://www.hotelpalme.it/uk/dovesiamo01.htm
If you click on the words 'how to reach us' then, in the new window, on the 'il treno' little train picture you'll get a whizzy red line which shows your route. You won't need to go through the tunnel.
