Hotel Argentina was an excellent choice.

Once we decided to go to Riomaggiore we arrange for a room @ Casa Venere(or something like that) from Florence. Well that was a mistake . Moving forward I contacted Mr Angelo @ Villa Argentina from the center of the town he immediately made us feel welcome and now at least I know that we have a room for the night. See it could get a little confusing we you first arrive @ Riomaggiore specially if you have a ton of luggage. When you arrive @ the train station that is not the center of town you have to go thru the tunnel and that takes you to it. There are a lot of places to rent but after 3 pm. I couldn`t reach anyone to help me find a room.

Villa Argentina told us that they will have room for the 3 of us @ 120 E (December09) I agree and started going up the hill. The hotel is SUPER CLEAN, they speak good english and the breakfast was really good as well. The rooms are kind of small but the view that we had allowed us to see the town , the Sea and the most beautiful and longest sunset ever. We ended up staying 3 nights and I will go back and stay there again and again. If dont feel like walking up the hill there are this green buses that will take you up and down for a small fee.

Unique Quality: Great views, super clean, nice staff, Hot towels racks, hot water, Great heating system, hearty breakfast , good capuccinos, safe. and small flat TV`s

Fantastic appartment!

Villa Argentina is a hotel, but it also rents out apartments, and I strongly recommend it.

We were two couples and got an apartment in the middle of summer holiday -05 the same day we called.

It was just great! It was more like a house. It had two floors. Downstairs it was a large kitchen and a livingroom with both sofa, TV and an eatingtable.

The kitchen had everything you might need, including a clothes-washing-machine. And it was large windows and an entrance to a little garden.

In the livingroom it was a great view, that was even better if you went out on the terrace. From here, you are at the top of Riomaggiore and are looking down on everything. A wonderful place to relax, read a book, drink wine and have a wonderful time.

Upstairs there were three bedrooms. Especially one of them was really huge. It was also a good and clean bathroom.

If you are going to Riomaggiore, do not think twice about trying to get this apartment.

Unique Quality: A fantastic view of Riomaggiore.

Best View in the City

A "modern" (compared to some penziones in the Cinque Terre) hotel. Helpful staff, friendly & with patience and a sense of humor. Food and wine stocked for guests, and there is light breakfast served in the morning.

Here is the link to the hotel's WEBSITE:

Hotel Villa Argentina

Unique Quality: Perched at the top of the ridge above Riomaggiore. It's about the view.
Most of the rooms in the hotel have a private little sunny terrace with one of the best views in the city. The view from my room (13) was an absolute knockout.
The rooms are simple, clean, and adequate, but the views are breathtaking.

Get ready for a long steep hike up the main street through town to the top of the ridge. But if you get one of the rooms with a view, it will be worth it.

BRING CASH - they do NOT accept credit cards.

More about Villa Argentina

Euro goes farther than plastic in Riomaggiore

by davequ

My hotel (Villa Argentina) and many other places in Cinque Terre did not take credit cards, and even some that did gave a better rate for cash.

Bottom line: Bring enough cash / Euros to Riomaggiore to get the best deal, and to avoid little surprises when you go to buy things or check out of your hotel.

"Here's a view of my hotel room"

My lucky room 13 is the middle room on the top floor. To your back is down the hill to the Ligurian Sea. Hotel Villa Argentina was not cheap, but the view was unbelievable.

"Lobby"

Here is the lobby
(They take cash only, no credit cards)

"Breakfast Lounge"

Good breakfasts in the lounge before you go out to hike

"The view"

and the view that greets you as you walk out the door.

There are also some less expensive penziones down the hill in town that still have great views for less money, but overall I really liked this hotel and the staff.

An excellent restaurant just about 100 meters to the right, Ristorante Ripa Del Sole, serves great food.
