Room with a View
Thanks to VTer jeffmartinartist I first heard about this place and instantly fell in love with the view! And we were lucky: Elisabetta did have a double room for the period requested at a rate of € 62/night without breakfast (2006). When we arrived in Vernazza we called her and she gave us directions on how to find the house. She had taped directions at the entrance gate and all over the place and just left the key in the door. She also had left a note to please leave the money and the passport on the table, but she only checked on it on our last day there! No problem for us and apparently no problem for her! Elisabetta is a wonderful person - we really enjoyed staying at her place!
Unique Quality: We stayed in room #4, which was actually almost a little appartment: we had a little kitchenette with a refrigerator and a water boiler, then there was a little bathroom (shower, sink and WC) and then our room with a double bed and a single bed. Altogether there were three windows, so it was light and friendly, the bedroom windows facing the sea. From the kitchenette window you could overlook Vernazza, but you had an even more breathtaking view from the terrazza, which you could reach via the little spiral staircase in front of our door. There are tables, chairs and deck chairs, so you really can make yourself comfortable there!

Rent a house or Room short term
I never plan ahead when traveling and have only been caught out once with this approach. So when I arrived in Vernazza I spent a bit of time looking at different rooms to rent. Some of the locals have access to or own several small apartments and they are very reasonably priced sometimes with incredible views. This room was a cracker and here is the persons contact details.
Unique Quality: No kitchen facilities (so.. just eat out plenty of good Italian chefs waiting to impress you) small en suite a balcony with incredible views. Tight snug fit with double bed but space in this town is at a premium.
