TRAIN QUERY

by HAMOUZOVA77

IS IT POSSIBLE TO CATCH A TRAIN FROM BERGAMO AIRPORT TO CAVALASE?
IF SO WHAT TIMES AND HOW MUCH? THANKS

Re: TRAIN QUERY

by Maurizioago

Cavalese.

I am quite sure there aren't any trains to Cavalese. I think you have to take a train to Ora and then a bus to Cavalese. Otherewise go to Trento by train and then take a bus to Cavalese.

See; www.trenitalia.com for timetables and fares.

Re: TRAIN QUERY

Yes; you'd better go to Ora (Auer is the german name); in South Tyrol and then take a bus to Cavalese.

I suppose you have to change three trains to get to Ora from Bergamo. Eeer; first you have to take the shuttle bus from Bergamo airport to the train station in Bergamo.

To summarize Maurizio's notes:
1. No, there is no train from Bergamo airport (Orio al Serio); you'll need to take a bus from the airport to the train station - see http://www.sacbo.it/Editorial/newsCategoryViewProcess.jsp?editorialID=2656¤tMenu=2175
for the bus info on the airport's website.

2. Yes, you can take the train to Ora, and it will require 2 changes on the way. See www.trenitalia.com (look for English at the top), and as Maurizio says, when you enter "Ora" as the destination, it's OK that the website changes it to "Ora Auer". Note: don't enter dates beyond the second week of December as the schedules aren't completed after that date. Not to worry as train schedules are pretty stable year-round. Note that the fares will vary as some of the solutions include higher speed 'premium' trains for part of the route; this is why you should spend some time practicing on the Trenitalia website.

3. As noted, Ora is the closest train station to Cavalese (note the spelling of "Cavalese"). See http://www.sii.bz.it/en/benvenuti.php for the bus line's website (in English) which will show you a trip planner for bus times. Note, when it gives you a list of possible starting locations in Ora, you want "Ora Staz. - Auer Bhf", which means the trains station in Ora.

"schedules are pretty stable year-round."

Well, they will change a bit around june.

Re: TRAIN QUERY

Yes, and I didn't talk about the regional/local trains whose schedules vary between weekdays and Sundays/holidays...I just wanted the OP to understand that looking at the schedules now will give him a good idea of what he/she will find when he/she gets to Italy, even if the times are not exactly the same...

Besides, do tourists go to Ora in the summer? ;-) (Actually, I have no idea...I've never been there ;-) )...

I've never been there. I think tourist usually visit Bolzano and Merano.

Slowly walk to 'citta' alta'; the hi part of the city is wonderful itself but if you reach it walking it's more than that :-). Go to the rallway station and then ask for the pedestrian path ...

In the picture another (longer than from the rallway) path to 'citta' alta': from via S. Alessandro.

Highlife ahoy!

The higher you live, the higher your costs. As you puff/gasp/pleasantly trek up the hill you'll surely notice the living standard rising along with it. YES, I'd LOVE to have a holiday house with a view too, but in Bergamo these things just cost a tad too much.

In search for a little present

by irisbe about Little toy shop, lost the name

Caroline was on the outlook to bring some small gift back home for her lovely little niece and cousin. Walking the Via B. Coleoni direction west, we discovered on our left hand side a shop with sweets and little toys. It was really an inviting shop.
Inside we saw a collection of all kinds of Pinocio’s.
So Caroline bought two of them. These kinds of toys were already popular when I was a kid… yeah yeah… I hear you thinking “That must be very old then!”

Here Caroline demonstrates how to use them. A little Pinocio A few Euro's

Higher Funicular

To reach the other funicular station:
pass through the main square, keeping the Sansovino library on your right, follow the straight street right through town until the gate at the end , and the funicular is on the square on the other side of the gate.
goes from the Porta San Alessandro to San Vigilio. It is a very short ride, and from the San Vigilio church you have very nice views!

Vineria Cozzi

by sniem about Vineria Cozzi

If you enter the place you first think it's just a small bar, but in the rear they have a small medieval dining room with about 5 tables. They only have a small menue but everything was of excellent quality and the house wine I had red my friend white wine was very good too. Torta di riso di Barolo con raddichio
