A Great Place to stay

This is a lovely Bed and Breakfast situated just a five minute walk away from the Venetian Walls of the Citta Alta (Old Town) and a 10-15 minute walk away from the heart of Citta Bassa (Lower town). The entrance to Al Principata is just off the junction of Via Pignola and Via S Tomaso where you will find the picturesque Piazzetta del Delfino with its' 16 Century dolphin statue and the lovely Perry Bar. This is the oldest part of Citta bassa, many of the buildings here are 16th Century Palazzi built for the local cloth merchants.

We booked a double en-suite for 7 nights in order to attend the Eurmeet 2012. We were delighted with our choice as the place has real character with dark oak beams in the bedrooms and fresco's on the kitchen walls. There are just three rooms available here. We were allocated the room named 'Colleoni' with was a nice sized double room with plenty of storage. The en-suite bathroom was equipped with hairdryer and toiletries; the only downside was that the shower was a little on the small side. Our room and communal areas were kept spotlessly clean. There are a few ancient Churches very close to the B&B, one of the bell towers appeared to be behind our apartment block; be warned - the bells start ringing at 7am and are very loud especially if you sleep with the windows open like we did on the first night. The windows are double glazed though and once shut will block out most of the early morning scooters whizzing by and of course the Bells!!

We opted to have our breakfast at 8.30 each morning when the owner (Michele) arrived with fresh croissants and rolls to go with the ham, salami and cheese. There was also a selection of teas, freshly percolated coffee, juices and yoghurt. This really set us up for the day. The fully equipped kitchen was available for use during our stay although we did not use it much except to sit and relax after we came back in the evening.

We really enjoyed our stay here and were made to feel very welcome by the owner. I pre-arranged for Michelle to pick us up from the Airport - there was an additional fee of 20 Euro's for this. We caught the bus back which runs every 20 minutes from the Bus stop on Vialle Vittorio Emmanuell II which is just a short walk from Al Principato. We bought a three day ticket from the funicular station which included the funicular and airport bus.

During the latter days of our stay we discovered the wonderful Cafe Genus across the road on Via Pignola, fantastic home cooked food at very reasonable prices.

All in all I really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely reccomend it to others.

Unique Quality: Right in the heart of the Historic suburb of Citta Bassa surrounded by fabulous buildings.

A pleasant 10 minute walk to the funicular station.

Piazzetta Del Delfino is right outside.

A 15 minute walk to the train & bus stations.
