Am off to Bergamo at the end of this month and was just wonderng if any of you could tell me what the food is like for vegetarians. Is it easy enough to find?

You should have no trouble whatsoever finding vegetarian meals in Bergamo. Vegetarian menus are well accepted these days, but the way I see it, in Italy, you should never go hungry, as all of the pastas, risottos, Pizzas etc. come with vegetarian options.

Food in Bergamo is very good - you will find various pizzerias as everywhere in Italy but there are also some very good local restaurants in the old town worth visiting. The local food is quite heavy on meat but you should be able to find some typical dishes that are suitable.
I can recommend this enoteca - www.donizetti.it - for local food and there are a couple of vegetatian things on the menu. The polenta there is excellent. If you want to know more, I wrote a fairly long tip on my Bergamo page.
The main thing you'll have to watch out for is rennet in cheese which is common in Italy and can spoil otherwise vegetarian meals. As an ex-vegetarian, this often caught me out when I lived in Italy. The Italian term is 'caglio' - it might be worth asking about it when eating out.
I also noticed that Bergamo has a number of Indian takeaway places that sell vegetarian curries.

I am a veggie on the basis that i simply don't like meat, so cheese/rennet doesn't matter too much. Very often when on hols i simply learn the appropriate phrase for 'no meat please' (ie have carbonara without the bacon!)
both me and MrH love Italian food, and this is our first visit to Italy, so we are both really looking forward to sampling all the pizza and pasta! You'll probably have to roll us home!

It reminds its ancient relative: this dessert is the most common in town and it took after the local specialty, called 'Polenta e Osei'. The real one is a winter must: it's composed of a polenta base with wild birds on it.
This dessert resembles the former in colour and shape; it's actually made of almond paste and chocolate birds on it. It's stuffed with sponge cake.
See the Teatro Sociale. I came upon this old theatre by accident and was I glad ! I've just been told by Titi (VT member who lives in Bergamo) that this theatre is quite famous amongst students of architecture and it is quite easy to see why. I don't know exactly how old it is but its wooden design is really impressive. Bellissimo !

In the beginning of the evening there are mostly people that come there form some food(brought by some nice females).Later in the evening people come over there for a drink and a laugh. Pizza and Pasta of course!Doesn't matter witch one.
One of my most favorits was vittello tonnato.
And ofcourse the beers like Jupiler(my favorit)Leffe,Hougaarden,Duvel and a lot of special belgian beer.
