Visiting Fuipiano Imagna

by kwoo

Please help! My boyfriend and I have found a hugely recommended hotel to stay at in Fuipiano Imagna in the Bergamo area for a short weekend away at the end of November and we'd love to find out more about the surrounding area. We both have a real love of the mountains and nature.

We both love hiking and ski-ing and wondered if anyone could recommend any good walks in the area or nearby ski resorts that may be open at the end of November (subject to snow of course!).

We'll have a hire car so can be flexible.

Thanks!

Hi,

I don't know much about skiing, especially in November. I've just heard today that they've opened earlier befcause it snowed during the last days, but the resort is in Colere (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=it&geocode=&q=colere,+Bergamo&sll=45.847934,9.521713&sspn=0.296542,0.826721&ie=UTF8&z=12&g=colere,+Bergamo), quite far from Fuipiano.
If you like hiking, anyway, I can suggest you Mt. Resegone, you can find the map here: http://www.pieroweb.com/fotobrembane/resegone_grigne/resegone/cartina_kompass.jpg
Resegone is a rocky mountain and it can be dangerous with snow and ice, so be carefull and check the weather condition before to go. from the top you'll have a beautiful view.
I'll have a look in some book about hikes I have and I'll let you know if I find something.

For the moment it's all
Sergio

Thanks Sergio. Your help and knowledge has been really useful to us. I'll have to check out those links you suggested. I'll keep a close eye on the weather forecast and pray for snow - early ski-ing would be ideal. I really liked the sound of the walk too. Thank you - your help is much appreciated.
Best wishes
Kirsty

Travel Tips for Bergamo

Rug Making With Loom

by painterdave

In Bergamo Alto there is a shop owned by two women who make rugs of all sizes with their looms. It is a nice shop and the ladies are soft spoken and will give you a demonstration of how they make the rugs.
In the photos you will see one of the ladies, and i also include a video (go to my videos to see) of her making the loom work.
If you have children this shop is a "must see" experience. It is 100 meters north from the main street, on the lower end of Bergamo Alto. (via solata)
The address is:

Via Solata, 7
Bergamo Alto
24129 Bergamo

San Pellegrino Terme

by Joeplaboem

At about 20 km north in the direction of Val Brembanayou will find the famous city San Pellegrino.
Famous for its mineral water and sources.
Visit the Casino and the sources.
Drink the healing water or have a thallasa therapy.
Only in summer months as they close somewhere end october.

Bergamo's bus network

by Airpunk

The public transport services in Bergamo are good, although they do not run late at night. Perhaps the most important bus lines are 1C (Airport Orio-Al-Serio – railway station – Porta Nuova – Old town), 6 (Port Nuova – Hostel) and 3 (Old town – Hostel). Like most public transport networks, also Bergamo’s is divided into zones which define the price of the ticket you need. Note that the bus driver DOES NOT sell any tickets, you have to acquire them in advance. Close to Port Nuova, there is a newspaper stand selling them. But many cafés sell them too. Oh yes, don’t forget to stamp your ticket when you board the bus!

Great snacks

by MarvintheMartian about Bar Donizetti

This is basically a wine bar serving gourmet snacks - crostini with gorgonzola, honey and truffle - as well as hot dishes. It has a relaxed astmosphere and it's a great place to people watch!
It's a short walk up the hill from the funicular.
Closed Friday. Red wine with breads and a plate of dried meats.

grill!

by juzz about roadhouse grill

I liked this place very much and you can't miss it if you like beef! You can have everything from T-Bone steaks to huge hamburgers. It's an easy reastaurant, not romantic for sure, but it's clean, bright and colorfull. Waitress are kind and quick: even if the restaurant were quite full we didn't have to wait too much. We had a beefsteak and a cheese burger (they were both huge, my cheese burger had 200gr beef inside and the beef seemed to be 400gr) with chips. Then water and beer and we spent 33euros for everything. The Cheesburger i had was great but I will try other things in the future, so perhaps I will update this tip ;)
