If, like me, you intend to use Bergamo largely as a base for visiting other places by train then this hotel cannot be beaten. It is literally a minute's walk from the railway station, from the airport bus stop and from bus 1A to the funicular and Citta Alta. Bus 1A runs until after midnight (other buses stop much earlier) so the hotel is fine even if you want to eat in a Citta Alta restaurant. There are lots of places to eat and drink within a 10-minute walk.
The rooms have all been recently refurbished, and work on the rest of the hotel was ongoing when I visited (end May 2011), although it was not in the least intrusive. There is a restaurant, but it is closed during renovations..possibly open towards the end of 2011, I was told.
My room, at the back, was sparkling clean with comfortable bed (two single mattresses), safe, mini-bar fridge (water only, strangely), flat-screen TV, loads of hot water, bidet and balcony. Rooms at the front could, I think, suffer from traffic noise but as the hotel has air con there would be no need to open the windows.
Breakfast was in the new breakfast room, again beautifully clean, with a good range of pastries, bread, cereals, eggs, meat, cheese etc. I was particularly pleased with the large bowl of unflavoured yoghurt, which I love to eat with honey (also available) for breakfast.
Staff were courteous and efficient, although not especially friendly.
There is a lift, and a computer for guest use in the foyer, charged at 1 euro for 30 minutes (although I was not charged). Rooms have wifi, but it is provided by Vodaphone and you have to pay direct via credit card. I preferred not to do this.

Again, didn't sleep here but since it is an three stars hotel, it is of medium standards and recommendable for tourists.

The Hotel Piemontese is a comfortable 3* hotel with an exceptional location.
The rooms are clean and contain en-suite facilities, satellite TV, minibar, air conditioning, heating and telephone.
The staff are friendly and speak good English (and probably other languages too!)
A single room cost 75 Euros (including breakfast) in September 2003.
The hotel also has a pizzeria attached.
Unique Quality: This hotel is in a very convenient location, with both the railway station and bus station less than a minute's walk away.
To reach the funicular station to the old town, it is a straight-forward 10 minute walk along Viale Papa Giovanni XXIII, straight ahead onto Viale Roma, and then continue onto Viale Vittorio Emanuele II.

I was very happy with my stay at the hotel Piemontese. The location was excellent for me because I arrived by train and this hotel was just across the road.
The room was very big and modern as well as the bathroom and I really found that this hotel was excellent value for the money spent.
The breakfast room was also big and there was a lot of choice at the buffet. Everything was clean, and if I ever travel to Bergamo again I will definitely stay here.

Good Hotel right beside the train station where the Airport Bus will drop you off for €1.70. Rooms were clean and tidy and staff were ok. The breakfast was very poor and if you are leving the hotel before 7 am, they can not give you a take away breakfast, because "it is delivered by a cattering company". So, you just loose your money for this service!

Hotel Piemontese - the restaurant is to the right
We are trying to locate a hotel that we can book from the USA that is near the train station. We found the Hotel Commercio and Locanda Caironi are they good choices and how would one book a room. We need this for one night in late September.
Hello there,
Hotel Commercio is closed and Caironi may not be exactly decent. Try the new Mercure (in late September you can have a double for 130 Euros) or Hotel Piemontese (around 100 Euros). As an alternative, the cheaper San Giorgio at about 70 Euros.

I have stayed at the PIEMONTESE and can recommend it. It is just acress the road from the
station.
I booked it on ITWG.com which I found gave the best price. It also included breakfast.
