verona/brescia airport to salo

by suzigi

We are arriving on a ryan air flight 9th august into verona/brescia airport.
Can anyone tell us if there is any public transport or reasonable priced
travel to the resort of Salo? The shuttle service seems unavailable online
and private transfers are really expensive.Only a short break and will need to
do return also.Would appreciate any guidance.Thanks,sue.

There's a shuttle bus from Brescia Airport that goes to Brescia station from where it is only 1 stop and 15 minutes by train to Desenzano del Garda (del G/S in timetables), on trains going to Venice. There is also a shuttle to Verona Porta Nuova, which is on the same railway line, however you would be going in the other direction (Schaffhausen), and then it's the second stop, after Peschiera del Garda.
From Desenzano you can take a ferry to Riva which calls at Salo, or you can catch a SIA bus to Salo.
You can also catch a bus LN010 all the way from Brescia to Salo, see http://www.trasportibrescia.it/upload/orari/estivi/LN010.pdf

Travel Tips for Brescia

Capitolium

by croisbeauty

By the 3C B.C. the city of Brescia had come under Roman rule. Most of the old city centre still have traces of the crisscros Roman street plan. However, not much of the Roman building have left in the town.
Via dei Musei leads you to the imposing Capitolium, remnants of the large temple from the Roman times.

Piazza del Foro

by Redang

Just in front of the Capitolium (Piazza del Foro/Foro Square), housed Brixia’s market and was the centre of commerce; it was surrounded by arcades lined with shops and closed to the south by the Basilica di San Zeno al Foro (second pic).
