Brescia traditional food and restaurants

by oriettaIT

Hello everybody,
I will be in Brescia next Sunday to see Vincent Van Gogh exhibit. I am looking forward the joy for my eyes but I would also like to enjoy some great food.
Any advice about what to eat and where? I like traditional restaurants or trattoria and to try traditional food.
Thank a lot, Orietta

P.S. Any suggestion about a convenient car parking not too far from Museo Santa Giulia?

Well, I remember a place just outside the Old town where you can park on Sundays free of charge, but I cannot remember so well to write down directions. You'd better follow the exibition directions from the motorway exit (such exibitions are usually very well directed)and when you realized you cannot go on, try to park :-)

As to the restaurant, I suggest you Antica Osteria Bresciana La Grotta. See my page, I've just written it down

Travel Tips for Brescia

Chiesa di San Francesco d'Assisi

by Redang

Romanesque style, it was finished in 1,265, has a gabled façade with a magnificent rose window in the centre. The church has a nave and two aisles, divided by pointed arches supported by cylindrical pilasters.

Address
Via San Francesco
25123 Brescia

How to get there:
From the railway station, walk along Vial Stazione until you reac Piazzale della Repubblica. Once there, take Corso Martiri della Libertá and after some meters, on your left, you will find a street (I can't remember the name, soryy) and ths church is at the end of it.

Torre dell'Orologio

by croisbeauty

Torre dell'Orologio, the Clock Tower, built in 1547, is situated on the Piazza di Loggia, right opposite to the Palazzo Pubblico, or Loggia. Beneath the Clock Tower is a passageway which leads to Piazza Paolo VI, where the main attractions of the town are situated.
