The twelve century Torre d'Ercole is the best preserved example of tower-house, a medieval form of private dwelling of the Palazzi family. The tower takes its name from the ancient place "Vicus Herculis".
Ezzelino da Romano had its top chopped of in 1258, as a tengible sign of the Ghibelline conquest.
Nice town, good connections around
"Our three days in Northern Italy"
We made just a short-trip to Brescia just to make our autumn little nicer ;)
The town was nice, but not those kind of places you need to come again and again. Allthough we had so lovely apartment/b&b that we even thought we could come again, and make much more trips around. Who knows! At least we will recommend that apartment to everyone!
And the location of Brescia is quite good-you can easily visit several cities from there!
This photo is taken from the castle.
"Nights in Brescia"
The nights weren´t so much our type of thing there. It took us some time to find where the restaurants are at the night. Outside that area it was quite dead. Many restaurants didn´t have prices outside-in those cases we didn´´t go in. But we didn find some nice places.
And some buildings looked lovely at night-lightnings.
I do belive this one is only temporary, because there was some kind of fashion-show at the square.
I think the nightlife might be more lively at weekends and at summer. We went in monday and left friday-morning. At thursday we could allready see much more people at the town.
"The ruins were closed from public"
We were hoping to visit the ruins, but we could only look behind the bars :( I don´t know are they allways closed for publiv, or is this only temporary, because of the renovation.
