Travel Tips for Brescia

Museo di Santa Giulia

by croisbeauty

In Via dei Musei is the monastery of Santa Giulia, a huge group of buildings with three Renaissance cloisters and several churches. Formerly called San Salvatore, the monastery was founded by the Lombard king Desiderius in 753 on the site of a Roman edifice.
Part of the complex houses today the Museo della Citta (the City Museum) with displays covering all periods of the city's history.

Pallazo della Loggia

by croisbeauty

Palazzo della Loggia or Palazzo Pubblico dominates the square named after it. It is a beautiful Renaissance building with fine sculptural details. The ground floor was built between 1492 and 1508, the upper storey between 1554 and 1574.
The architect is unknown, although Lodovico Beretta, Jacopo Sansovino, Galeazzo Alessi and greatest of all Andrea Palladio are all thought to have been involved.
On the right of the Loggia is a fine 16th century portal.

Brescia - small team, but great supporters

by Calcio

Brescia is a classic football town for me. I've been there so many times, that I think in Italy it's only Milano I've been to more often.
The club is one of the smallest in the Serie A, but the supporters makes the trip worth it. They create a great atmosphere, and mostly with fantastic choreographs too.
Unfortunately the great Roberto Baggio hanged up his boots after last season, which makes it less worth to see Brescia 04/05, but it's a nice trip to do, even with the 10 kilometers walk after the game... More about that trip inside this page, go on and read it! :)
