Cernobbio & Villa d'Este

In the background of this picture(the red and the white buildings), there's one of the Cernobbio's pride the 5 stars hotel Villa D'Este.
This is, for sure, one of the best world hotels (evry year is the first, the second or at least th third hotel in world chart).
In Villa d'este there's also a wonderful floating swimmingpoll, but it's not pubblic.
Madonna, Bruce Springsteen and many other popular stars sllep here, when they are in Italy.
On 4th July, there's the American party with a really wonderful pyrotechnic show. You can admire it from the mountains around Cernobbio.
Crystal clear water

Isn't it incredible that in such an industrial area as Lombardia, and only 50km from Milano there is such a clear water?! Everywhere around Como lake the water is so clear! Transparent, clean, wonderful colours... Hard to believe! Even in the bigger towns, like Como, it is equally clear!!!
Typical Boat

This is a typical boat of the Como lake, a bit modernized version. This one is even named Cernobbio! You won't see them around the lake so often anymore, but sometimes they will surprise you! I like this strange boats very much! Especially when theyhave a "tent" open on the wires that you see as contour.

Well, I don't know how to say this in English! Lizarding? :-) It means to stay on the sun like a lizard and enjoy it very much! These people were practicing this sport by the lake in front of Barry's Bar on these benches. They had such pleasurable faces with nirvana smiles and closed eyes! Like enchanted! :-) Some were chit chatting a bit, but mostly the location is used for lizarding. Lovely!!!
Cernobbio

Cernobbio is a lovely little town with 7200 inhabitants. . It is situated only 5 km away from Como, at the foot of Mount Bisbino, and on the western shores of the lake. Cernobbio is also only a few kilometres away from the boarder with Switzerland.
There are many grand villas around Cernobbio. One is the famous Villa d’Este, which was built for the Gallio family in 1570 by Pellefrino Tibaldi. In 1873 Villa d’Este became a luxorious hotel and it is now often used for conferences. Other villas are Villa Elba, also used for conferences, and Villa Pizzo.
At the harbour you can find ferries that connect Cernobbio with other towns and villages around the lake. There are also buses going from Como, past Cernobbio, and further on along the western shores. Down by the harbour is also a nice place to take a stroll.
During summer it is full of tourists in Cernobbio.
