Travel from Como to Lezzeno

by ASHERIDAN

Hi, I am arriving into Como SG train station from Zurich, can anyone help with the best way to get to Luzzeno? thanks!

Well, wouldn't the best way be to take a private powerboat belonging to a wealthy person of the opposite sex who adored you, going up Lago di Como and down Lago di Lecco until you arrived at your destination, sipping spumante and locked in each others' arms?

Hmmmn, well, lacking that, you can try the mundane national railroad :-(

Go to www.trenitalia.com and look for English at the top. Enter "Como S. Giovanni" for the start and "Mandello del Lario" for the destination. Enter a reasonable date and time (but within the next 2 months, timetables get flaky too far in the future). Make the date the same day of the week as you expect to go (some local train change frequency on Sundays and holidays).

You will see that there are a number of trip solutions, generally taking 2 hours, and changing trains at Monza and Lecco. Hmmmn, this is a long time to go 48 kilometers...maybe there's a bus (but probably not a direct one), or even a couple of ferries. Ferries might not be any faster, then the view will be better ;-)

Oh, Luzzeno is part of Mandello del Lario - Luzzeno is about a kilometer from the train station...

Well!

Your post is headed Como to Lezzeno which is just south of Bellagio, so I'm going to proceed on the assumption that this where you want to go, as opposed to the Luzzeno which is in your actual post and that Bill has kindly mapped out for you!

The link below will take you to the timetable for the C30 bus from Como to Bellagio which stops at Lezzeno, the starting point(Como-Staz FS) is Como San Giovanni train station, the journey take about 50 mins and costs approx €4

Billy

OK...no train up the east side of the lake to Lezzeno, so it's the bus for you...unless you find that wealthy person ;-)

Travel Tips for Como

Promenade

by croisbeauty

The beautiful pavement promenade is build all over the lakeshore of the town of Como, closing the both sides of the city port. The western side of the promenade is in particularly beautiful, offering deep shade in a hot summer time.

Lake Approach

by Aurorae

Mamny of the villas have impressive water approaches, usualy the stairs leading directly to the water. Some are well hidden, some are more exposed, but imagine the possibilities they offer. :) Like this hideout under the tree... :)

Carnival in Como

by icunme

If you spend any time at all in Italy, you will soon see that Italy and her people know how to throw a party - like none other I have seen or heard about. And, you did not have to be in the Venice venue of choice for Carnival. Conffetti from last night's grown-ups party covered the piazzas, streets, sidewalks and even the entrance of my building -- I should not have been surprised to see it at my front door. These children were delighted that Mom permitted me to take their photo (and promised to e-mail this page to Mom). Hope you see all the photos here - the kids were delightful.

In training...........

This little girl was taking her job quite seriously. The entire scene was quite charming and even a local policeman standing beside me wanted to see the photo I took.
The police woman directing traffic there at Piazza Vittoria had a very busy day today but took time for this little girl. Only in Italia!!

Take The Funicular Railway To Brunate

by AnnS

A funicular railway in Como takes you up to the village of Brunate, at a height of 2200m. From there you get magnificent views of Como, the Lake, the surrounding countryside and on a clear day, the Alps.

On the top there are some lovely walks and there are paths back down to Como if you feel energetic enough to walk down.
