Hi everyone, I'm newly engaged and planning my wedding in lake como next year was thinking early june, just read somewhere though that como gets quite alot of rainfall around that time- does anyone know if this is this right? or is it generally nice?

I'm reading the averages and the days of rain in June from 2003 to 2010 and, statistically, in early June it rains often. But you know, nobody can know the weather forecasts so far in advance.
Anyway, there is an Italian proverb that says: "sposa bagnata, sposa fortunata", "wet bride, lucky bride"...:)
My thought: husband never!!!:)

4 years ago we were in Varenna for a week in June and it rained (and I mean rained) for 3 days with spectaclar thunderstorms and periods of sunshine.
2 years ago we were again in Varenna in June and it was almost unbearably hot with tempereatures in the high 30's every day.
We have been to Varenna 7 times and going back for an 8th this year and all can tell you is that it is generally very sunny and pleasant.
I would definately not be put off planning your wedding on Lake Como, I regard it as the most romantic place in Italy, apart from Venice possibly.
Lake Como is very peaceful and the perfect place for a wedding.

Thank you for the replies- I think we're still gonna go ahead with the wedding there- I really dont want it be anywhere else but maybe arrange it for july or august.
I would agree with everyone else, that its unpredictable, but well worth it. It is probably the most romantic and beautiful areas of the world. (I might be slightly biased though as I originate from thew area and still have family there) I must admit though, from well over 30 years of visiting, I have always had good weather. It tends to rain a lot in September, but stops just as quickly as it starts. It is cold in January and February but with beautiful snow scenes, and I have also had brilliant sunshine in March! So best to go and enjoy it, after all, its the event and the company that will make it, not the weather.

It is the capital of the low Valtellina and a center important and vital of the whole province of Sondrio.
The small city possesses a historic center, with small streets paved very pleasant. The houses are typical of the region. There are many trades where one can buy local products: saltings, cheeses...
The city of Como extends not only around the lake but also on the hills around, and just imagine the view those houses on the top might have! Besides, I have always thought that living in the suburbs is much better than the hectic center!
Villa Olmo is a favourite spot for taking photos of costumes for masquerade, especially in the carnival season. If you want to enjoy the various costumes, go there and wait. Maybe something interesting will come your way!
My nephew attended the highly competitive soccer match between Italian teams Inter (HIS team) and Juve at the Como stadium. I don't know what's more amusing - watching the game or watching the fans!
