Villa Olmo gardens
by Aurorae
The villa is situated in the middle of a wonderful garden, that exteds on both sides. The front part is nicely decorated and overlooks the lake. Its central area is full of statues of pagan deities and a nice fountain, which is frozen in winter if it's too cold, which gives even more interesting seal to the place.
rare birds
by Aurorae
The lake is full of all kinds of birds, ducks, swans... Some of the species you might come across are particularly beautiful, like this lovely orange duck! It was the only of a kind and it looked pretty isolated from the group... A loner evidently! ;)
Teatro Sociale
by croisbeauty
The theatre of Como was built on the site of a destroyed castle Torre Rotonda. Its neoclassic facade, designed by Giuseppe Cusi, is preceeded by a pronaos with six large Corinthian pillars.
In 1944 this theatre replaced La Scala of Milano which had been badly damaged during the war.
Confetti and rice
by icunme
OK - you don't expect the bride and groom to clean up the rice, do you? This was a wedding at lovely San Fidele. I remember reading something years ago about rice being banned outside the churchs - some liability issue re insurance! Understandable - seems we sue anybody for anything...........
Brunate
by croisbeauty
Brunate is location situated on the top of the hill which rises above Como. Unfortunately, I hadn't enough time to visit it but am sure the view over the lake from above must be spectacular. You can reach it by funivia (cable coach).
This picture was taken by my very potential lens, zooming it from the lakeshore of Como.
