Initially I passed right by the hotel because the front gate looked too majestic to actually be the entrance to the hotel. On my second passing we pulled right in through the black iron gates to the office on the left of the hotel (the entrance in the middle is for the museum, but it will also bring you to the front desk). Our car was parked and baggage brought to the room for us. Our room did not have a view of the lake, we were on the left edge of the hotel, but we did have a stunning view of a nearby mountain top, and a single home which I overheard someone say was property of Giorgio Armani, but I could very well have been mistaken by which house he was pointing to. The room was large, with a small entrance way where you could set up suitcases, then onto the bedroom with a queen sized bed, TV and internet access. There was a short hallway to the rather large bathroom that had a big bedroom with a view of the same mountain.
This is where you want to stay in Como. Right on the lake, 30 second walk to the dock and very close to restaurants and shopping. We would definitely stay there again if we found ourselves in Como.
