Hotel Plinius
I had booked a single room for one night through Booking.com at Hotel Posta. Hotel Posta was the cheapest option I could find in Como in February (February seems to be a month when many hotels are closed). I had read that check in was done at Hotel Plinius 30 metres away on the same street, and it should be done before 10pm. As I was not arriving until midnight I sent an email and got the answer it was okay to check in that late. When I passed Hotel Posta it looked dark and when I came to Hotel Plinius they said it was closed. But I was booked at Hotel Plinius for the same price, 50 Euro for a single room (February 2009). That was just good for me, I didn’t have to go out again and Hotel Plinius is a bit more expensive than Posta.
The room was small but comfortable with a table, a chair, a cupboard, a TV and a telephone. The bathroom was almost as big as the room and clean. Included in the price is a breakfast buffet in the morning. In the restaurant lunch and dinner is also served.
Hotel Plinius is situated in the historical centre in Como and is near both railway stations, Como San Giovanni and Como Lago.
