The old core
Another lovely scene from the old core of the town. The houses are very close to each other, makes you feel like in the Mediterranean area. There are many archways around, connecting the houses in endless row.
From the station, walk straight down hill

What is the best and most economical way of travelling from Verona Airport to Desenzano del Garde? I have been quoted 70 eur for a one way taxi for 2 people which I think is far too high. I would rather use public transport than pay this sort of one way charge. Can any of you travellers to Desenzano help me? My travel dates are for 11-22 July 2006
Agree that 70 seems too much. The cheaper (and of course NOT the best way) should be
1) aerobus to Verona Porta Nuova train station (every 20 mins, cost 4,5)
2) train (www.trenitalia.com) to Desenzano del Garda
3) What about your hotel/destination? You may need a short taxi ride from the station in Desenzano....
Or simply try to bargain a price with a taxi when there... If you can reach 40/50 maybe it's worth, for 2..

Thanks for this information Francesco. I did find the Trentalia Train website. I also believe that a bus runs from the train station in Verona, but I have tried the bus website and this is only in Italian.
If, when we arrive at the airport we can get a taxi for around 43 euro or so, we will take up the offer. We would, of course, need to get a taxi from Desenzano Train Station, our hotel is in Via Gramasci and we think this is about 2 km from the railway station.
Thanks for your help. If we can't get a taxi at the right price we will try the bus and then the train (and then the taxi!) Oh well we will be on holiday so our time will be our own.
Regards
