TRIPOLI HOTEL

Small and friendly hotel conveniently located in the heart of Desenzano. Piazza Matteoti is where the ferry docks and where the Tuesday market is set up. Easy walking distance anywhere in Desenzano.

We found the staff extremely helpful and amicable. Breakfast is available daily. Ask for Claudio - he made our stay impeccable.

One negative - there is a bar next door to Hotel Tripoli that is quite loud on weekends well into the night. Weekends Desenzano swells with visitors and young Italians looking to party so the Piazza also becomes noisy.

Unique Quality: Ferry docks across the piazza from the hotel. Tuesday market is setup right outside the hotel.

Hotel Tripoli is a lovely little hotel right in the heart of Desenzano. Located in Piazza Matteotti, Hotel Tripoli is steps away from the south shore of Lake Garda and offers breath-taking views of the Italian Dolomites as well as the lake. Breakfast is complimentary and always served with a smile.

English is minimal (although both Claudio and Dario do their best to assist) - know your basic Italian before going!

BE FOREWARNED - Desenzano has become quite the party destination for weekends. Hotel Tripoli is located between two very popular night spots so the music and crowds can be a factor if you like to get to bed early - BRING EARPLUGS!

The guest rooms are tastefully decorated in shades of peaceful blue hues, with the lower front facing rooms graced with wonderful wrought iron railed balconies.

Prices include breakfast, and range from 90 euro per night to 110 euro for a double.

This hotel is perfectly situated for early evening strolls through the cobble stoned streets, stopping for a gelatto, or sampling some of the local vino.

Unique Quality: The Hotel Tripoli has a wonderful location, immediately facing the harbour, and overlooking the very vibrant piazzas.

If you are lucky, you can get one of three rooms facing north, which has a balcony with small cloth covered table and chairs. From this perch, you can enjoy the wonderful scenery, including the numerous sailboats on Lake Garda, and the mountains to the north.

We had one of the three rooms with Lake View and balcony and did not have to pay a supplement.

On a bed and breakfast the hotel was very reasonable and booked online. All dealings with the hotel were very professional.

It has a small bar which we used each evening for nightcaps, etc. We also used to buy a couple of glasses of tonic water with ice and lemon and adjourn to our room after our day's excursions and top them up with Bombay Sapphire . . . perfect.

Unique Quality: A superb view down the lake and across to Sirmione and a great place for people watching in the evenings.
