Hotel Villa Rosa*
by shirez
it was a clean hotel, with thick wall, at least no disturbing neighbours (as last time in Venezia), very calm guests.
location was excellent, 5 minutes from either Ferrovia either the car-parking lot.
our room was clean and comfortable with a double and a single bed and very clean and newly furnitured beautiful small bathroom (shower).
our window opened to the courtyard of the hotel surrounded by a house in front and a park, all quiet and calm.
pls note: the hotel was full booked in the peak period (July-August) so reservation in advance is a must!

Brescia - Lago di Garda - Verona
by spartan19
Hi all,
Some advice please.
Over the last few years my friends and I (8 of us)have visited Italy each October (originally for my 50th birthday) We have done Venice, Rome, Pisa with Florence and last year Bologna and Parma. All different. All great.
This October I was thinking on one night on the lakes and then two in Verona.
Does anyone know if the train from Brescia stops at any town on Garda and does that same line carry on to Verona. Any help or suggestions would be gratefully received.
Cheers

Hy,
you can stop in Desenzano Del Garda-Sirmione, in the south of Garda lake. It's the same line to Verona
Timetables and fares here:http://www.trenitalia.com/cms/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=ad1ce14114bc9110VgnVCM10000080a3e90aRCRD
Something about Sirmione: http://www.sirmione.com/english.htm and Desenzano: http://www.desenzanoitaly.com/desenzano_del_garda.html
Hope this helps

Be aware that although the train station is called Desenzano- Sirmione it is actually in Desenzano itself and that you are required to get a bus to Sirmione.
The bus stop is directly outside the small station and the journey time is 23 mins, it is not a problem as I have done this myself when visiting Sirmione 4 years ago.
The bus time table can be found at

...and, I can add, coming from Brescia, there is the Peschiera del Garda station, still on the lake (the next main station is Verona). To have the timetable to Verona, search the Trenitalia link Bekerovka gave you, and type "Verona Porta Nuova" as destination.
You're not having to much time to spend travelling, but (having the southern part of the lake some real jewel, like Sirmione) i still prefer the northern side, surrounded by the mountains ( Malcesine, Riva or Limone). But you'll need a bus to go there from Desenzano or Peschiera.
Ciao
Francesco

If you make it to Desenzano, try out the Hotel Villa Rosa, with great views of the lake. We stayed there for 1 night - I wish we had stayed longer.
