Hotel Du Lac ( Malcesine ): Magic
We arrived at the Hotel Du Lac in Malcesine by bus from Verona, it dropped us off at the tourist information, i think there may have been a stop a bit closer, we walked back along the road for about 10mins and came to the hotel which is on the lake-side, to get to the front door and reception, which is on the road side, you go past the swimming pool and the solarium and gym, the reception area didn't look much, only small but the lady was friendly and took us to our room, we hadn't seen the lake till now, when we walked in and she opened the curtains, it was such a loveley sight, the bedroom was a superior one, we had just walked around Rome and Florence over the last 10 days, so we wanted a bit of luxury for a nice relaxing stay, the room was big, the bed was comfy, with a canopy, there was a settee, chair coffee table and t.v and also behind what looked like a walk in wardrobe, was a small kitchenette, as these rooms could also be used for self-catering, we were on half-board. the patio doors led onto a terrace which had table and chairs and sunloungers, i would recomend this hotel to any-one, although probably not a lot for small children.

La Meridiana: Sirmione's little secret...
We stayed in the Hotel Meridiana in Sirmione. I can't say enough good things about the place. Its literally just a two minute walk to the town and a three minute walk in the opposite direction to the 'beach' (one word of advice, for those of us who grew up near actual beaches, these are not what you'd expect. There's flat rocks to sit on and if you're lucky pebbles substituting for sand, but thats certainely not to take away from the beauty of this town. Remember, its a Lake, there generally aren't beaches on lakes!)
Anyways the hotel is lovely for a three star hotel, the staff are extremely friendly and seemed to appreciate us attempting to speak what Italian we could. Valerio, the manager is very charming and there's an overall good feel to the place.
Very friendly staff, great breakfast in the morning, excellent location. Reasonably cheap.

Locanda Monte Baldo: Hotel with a View
Didn't actually stay her but if coming back to this area I could be sorely tempted to stay here due to its position and panoramic views. Best suited for those with a car or those who like to hike and bike around Monte Baldo as this Locanda is situated near to the half way gondola station above Malcesine - but what superb views it had and the reasonably priced meals looked very tasty - perhaps even just go fo a lunch! The swimming pool with views over to the lake below looked very inviting in the hot summer months too.
Check the web link below and you'll find the room rates are reasonable too.

Albergo Renata: A place to stay----if you get in
The Albergo itself is nothing special, basic but clean room and a small bathroom.
But be careful if you plan to stay outside after 1am!
We got back to the hotel a bit later and all doors were closed :(, as were all the cafés and bars in Lazise aswell at that time (except for an obscure piano bar....). So we had to spend the night in our car...haha.
The hotel has a good ristorante and although we missed the official breakfast hours, we could order something à la carte without any extra charge.

Hotel Garni Toresela: A nice family run place near Torbole
A convenient good quality place available also for stays of just one or two nights. The village Nago is about 1,5 km from the lake when coming on the road from Rovereto (autostrada exit Rovereto sud/Lago di Garda Nord).
The place is very easy to find, at the right side of the road when coming from Rovereto.
The rooms are nice, clean and mostly with a balcony with views of the mountains around the lake. If you like to go to sleep early you may ask for an off-roadside room because the road is rather busy until about 22:00 . Other than many other Italian Hotel Garni in this category it offers a really nice breakfast.

Albergo "Sirmione": Hotel "Sirmione"
Hotel SIRMIONE is situated right at the heart of the town, you can see it before crossing the castle bridge, the yellow building at the port, going into the lake. It's location is excellent, and it looks very beautiful and blending into the town style so well.
It's inside the early 20th century Villa Hotel & Annex with restaurant, thermal pool and health center. I don't know about prices, though, but everything on the Garda lake is expensive!!

Bellavista Camping: Garda Camping
Wonderful facilities, with very hot showers. Terraced pitches surrounded by olive trees & all with lake views. They also rent out aparments here, but we did not see inside any. Check out the their website. You get to the private beach via a tunnel which goes under the Lake Garda ring road. The site is open all year.
We actually drove past it & ended up further north at Malcesine, I asked a local for directions & they actually showed us the way by car!
Wonderful views od the surrounding mountains & of course Lake Garda itself & private beach

Hotel Europa: Limone Views
A pleasant enough hotel, not a great architectural beauty but does the job. Has everything you would expect & friendly staff & probably most importantly wonderful views over the Lake!
I would definately recommend this place if you were planning to spend all day out sight seeing. Not a bad price for Italy either!

Hotel Colomber: Hotel & Restaurant
Hotel Colomber is a 2 stars family run hotel that has been recently completely refurnished. It is located on the hills above Gardone Riviera , just 5 Km from the lake and it is in an unpolluted valley, which is the starting point for excursions into the upper Garda Bresciano Park.
Pony trekking, mountain biking and paragliding are available nearby for our more adventurous guests while there are large areas of green open space with mountain views for those who prefer peace and quiet

Hotel Malcesine: Friendliest place to stay
I rocked up to Malcesine having failed to get a B&B I was after over the internet. Thus it was that I parked in the main piazza and headed for the waterfront, ever optimistically.
On the northern side of a small marina I enquired at a hotel but the manager not only had no accommodation but was disinterested as well. He pointed me away from the waterfront, even though I suggested a hotel on the southern side.
Thus it was that I ignored his advice and went there anyway. What a great move! The staff there were fantastic. Could not have been more helpful. The breakfast just kept on coming, my mate Tony even bringing things I hadn't asked for.
After all that I had the setting. Right over the lake. On a clear day it would be stunning, when I was there it was only wonderful, the winter haze of the fires obscuring much of the landscape.
I paid a miserly 40 euros a night, but you can expect to pay more as I got "just opened for the season" rates.

Hotel Tripoli: Ideally situated
Good service, friendly staff. Adequate breakfast (If you got up early enough)
Not cheap but the situation is perfect.
No swimming pool but the man made beach is only up the road.

This one of the best hotels I have ever been to . The rooms are well equiped and the people who run the hotel are very nice .
In main floor there is a good restaurant with great pastas .
The hotel is located on a beautiful terrace over looking the lake.

Camping Internazionale La Quercia: Best Campground at Lake Garda
It is huge - but still you don't feel jammed.
It has wonderful facilities, like swimming pool, access to the beach, a nearby horse stable, disco and many activities that you can sign up for!

Villa Isabella: Guesthouse in Assenza di Brenzone
This Guesthouse offers rooms with kitchen and balcony for a reasonable price.
It's a good accommodation if you do not want to spend too much money and you are there with friends. I personally did not like the breakfast room inside the house with all the tourists. It was not really individual atmosphere there, but sitting in a crowd and having breakfast. There are small cafes near the main road with lake view. Simple but much better!
