Hotel Garni Toresela: A nice family run place near Torbole
A convenient good quality place available also for stays of just one or two nights. The village Nago is about 1,5 km from the lake when coming on the road from Rovereto (autostrada exit Rovereto sud/Lago di Garda Nord).
The place is very easy to find, at the right side of the road when coming from Rovereto.
The rooms are nice, clean and mostly with a balcony with views of the mountains around the lake. If you like to go to sleep early you may ask for an off-roadside room because the road is rather busy until about 22:00 . Other than many other Italian Hotel Garni in this category it offers a really nice breakfast.

Albergo "Sirmione": Hotel "Sirmione"
Hotel SIRMIONE is situated right at the heart of the town, you can see it before crossing the castle bridge, the yellow building at the port, going into the lake. It's location is excellent, and it looks very beautiful and blending into the town style so well.
It's inside the early 20th century Villa Hotel & Annex with restaurant, thermal pool and health center. I don't know about prices, though, but everything on the Garda lake is expensive!!

Hotel Tripoli: Ideally situated
Good service, friendly staff. Adequate breakfast (If you got up early enough)
Not cheap but the situation is perfect.
No swimming pool but the man made beach is only up the road.

Locanda Monte Baldo: Hotel with a View
Didn't actually stay her but if coming back to this area I could be sorely tempted to stay here due to its position and panoramic views. Best suited for those with a car or those who like to hike and bike around Monte Baldo as this Locanda is situated near to the half way gondola station above Malcesine - but what superb views it had and the reasonably priced meals looked very tasty - perhaps even just go fo a lunch! The swimming pool with views over to the lake below looked very inviting in the hot summer months too.
Check the web link below and you'll find the room rates are reasonable too.

Hotel Malcesine: Friendliest place to stay
I rocked up to Malcesine having failed to get a B&B I was after over the internet. Thus it was that I parked in the main piazza and headed for the waterfront, ever optimistically.
On the northern side of a small marina I enquired at a hotel but the manager not only had no accommodation but was disinterested as well. He pointed me away from the waterfront, even though I suggested a hotel on the southern side.
Thus it was that I ignored his advice and went there anyway. What a great move! The staff there were fantastic. Could not have been more helpful. The breakfast just kept on coming, my mate Tony even bringing things I hadn't asked for.
After all that I had the setting. Right over the lake. On a clear day it would be stunning, when I was there it was only wonderful, the winter haze of the fires obscuring much of the landscape.
I paid a miserly 40 euros a night, but you can expect to pay more as I got "just opened for the season" rates.

Albergo Renata: A place to stay----if you get in
The Albergo itself is nothing special, basic but clean room and a small bathroom.
But be careful if you plan to stay outside after 1am!
We got back to the hotel a bit later and all doors were closed :(, as were all the cafés and bars in Lazise aswell at that time (except for an obscure piano bar....). So we had to spend the night in our car...haha.
The hotel has a good ristorante and although we missed the official breakfast hours, we could order something à la carte without any extra charge.

Il Gabbiano Park Residence: Beautiful retreat
This complex was really good. Predominantly Dutch and German fellow residents, this is a great place to stay away from any hassles. Prices were very reasonable in May but in summer it looks mighty expensive.
The accommodation is self catering with a restaurant on site for buffet breakfast, snacks at lunch and dinner. Pool area was never too busy even though all but one apartment was booked in May.
Downside would be its location in respect to the lake and facilities. The Moniga Del Garda town is 20-30 minutes walk away and the nearest route to the lake 20 minutes away. So a car is essential for anybody staying here no matter what you want to do. Car park charges therefore become an extra cost on your travels.
The staff are excellent here.
Best thing about this is that each of the 'villas' is very well presented and has its own private garden area which is great for breakfast and BBQs.
For families this is really a great and safe place. Kids club was free with activities organised on a small scale.
One evening a week - the Italian evening was attended by everyone who stays there - extra charge but good value - and a great chance to meet your fellow travellers.

Hotel Cangrande is a small family hotel situated in the heart of the place, just about 100 meters from the lake shore. The service is very good, the room is clean and comfortable, but most of all I like the hospitality of the family who is running the business.
The single room with nice bathroom plus breakfast cost 65 euros.
If you are traveling by car, here you have a hotel garage which is well protected. If you are a wine lover, here you have a hotel wine cellar with excellent local wines. There is great terrace inside the courtyard situated in a very quiet street. .

Hotel La Forgia: Lazise
The hotel is situated in the center of the town on the little square right on the lake shore of Garda. It is great experience to wake up in the morning viewing the still water of the lake.
I paid 50 euros for the single room but it was in the winter season
It is small three stars hotel with no more then 20-30 rooms, cute, clean, very friendly atmosphere and a great restaurant. The restaurant offers typical dishes and wines from the area of the lake. I recommend grilled meat of fish, which is fresh and well prepared.

Hotel "Sirmione": Sirmione
The hotel is situated in the heart of the castle town, right on the lakeshore of Garda Lake. It is four stars hotel, very comfortable and with lots of facilities.
First of all, magnificent view of the Lake of Garda from each and every room. Although in the heart of the old core, it is off the main pedestrian paths and it offers tranquility. Besides, there is beautiful terrace in front of the hotel and small swimingpool which is open even in the winter times.

Camping Internazionale La Quercia: Best Campground at Lake Garda
It is huge - but still you don't feel jammed.
It has wonderful facilities, like swimming pool, access to the beach, a nearby horse stable, disco and many activities that you can sign up for!

Salo: Hotel Vigna
We stayed for only one night at the hotel from a recommendation from my husband's co-worker. They have 5 types of rooms, our room was an attic room (Room Luxury Lake) which is decorated in a typical Provencal style. The hotel was renovated recently, but did have an old smell. I didn't mind, we just opened the sliding door to our small terrace and aired out the room. We had a beautiful view overlooking the bay. Our bathroom was large and the bed was large and comfy!
The "lungolago" promenade is just in front and it is quiet (except for the church bells). Their dining room has a sunroom and terrace that overlooks the bay. Breakfast was the usual fare at most hotels, fruit, yogurt, cereals, cheeses, meats, breads, etc. I really liked how the front desk staff were helpful and very friendly.

Hotel Nike: Nice hotel on the coast
We stayed in the nice hotel on the coast of the lake. We had a great view on the lake, and on the mountains that surround the lake. The hotel has nice rooms, with cable TV, hot shower tubs, large comfortable beds, balcony in each room, one large terrace, and there is a neat restaurant in the bottom floor which serves delicious food.
There is also a nice bar with an open terrace just across the street.... You can have your favorite drink and listen to the sound of waves smashing the coast....Great experience, especially at night

Running Club: Top Of My List
Don't let the name fool you, this is a hotel for everyone. Located high above the lake, Navazzo is a village above Gargnano. Tthis quiet, small hotel has become my first choice when visiting the west side of the lake. The host, a wonderful and friendly young woman makes you feel like you are part of the family. The rooms have beds that are comfortable, with bathrooms super clean, satellite tv, and a sitting garden enclosed. They provide a nice breakfast, cappuccinos, cheeses, salamis, etc. The small village has become a starting point for bicycle and motorcycle travellers. We drove on this route out of the village and found a wonderful mountain setting, with a huge lake, and at the top, quaint thatch roof house. see my other tips for this route...
I left this hotel feeling like I had made a friend in the owner, and I know I will return here, rather than staying down on the lake with all its traffic and shoppers, etc. If I want to visit the lake, it is only minutes away from Running Club.
This village is the same as it was years ago, quiet, and slow.
Coming out of the hotel you see the mountains with patches of clouds hanging on them, and walking down the one and only street they have, you see just a few shops, further on you can see the lake below. The bells ring, the laughter from the bar across the street, the friendly dog waiting to greet you....
I needed a bed with support.... They have it!
We liked the adequate breakfast, and the smiles from the owner.
The hotel is quiet at night, and in the morning you can sit in the flower garden in peace.
No traffic sounds, no throngs of tourist, just the beauty of the hills.
Prices are okay, too. No gouging! Especially compared to hotels on the lake.

Campeggio Giglio: Camping Above The Lake
We like this campground because is is high above the lake, with grass sites, a barbecue, and the other usual things you find in a campground, hot showers, laundry, water and electricity at the sites, a bar, mini market and a quasi restaurant.
Get away from the traffic and camp here in sites that actually have ample room between other sites.
If you want to enjoy the lake, it is a fifteen minute drive down.
Quiet...The evening view of the lake below is wonderful.
