travelling from verona to limone
We have decided to give the package holiday a miss, and instead fly to Verona and make our own way to lake garda. Does anyone know the best way to get from verona to limone without hiring a car? Help greatly appreciated!

Limone is on the other side of the lake with respect to Verona. To get there you will have to take a bus from Verona to Riva del Garda, which takes about two hours because there are many stops. However, there are buses every 30 minutes or so. When you are in Riva del Garda it takes only 10 or 15 minutes to get to Limone, but buses between the two towns are not frequent. It may be advisable to take a taxi for this last part of the trip: it is short so it should not cost much.

I have no idea of the cost of a car transfer (with driver) from Verona airport to Limone sul Garda, but making an enquiry is easy, so you may consider the idea. This is the website of a company that provides not only transfers with mini-buses but also with cars for 4 passengers. Anna Maria is correct in saying that Limone is on the other side of the lake.
It really is a bit tricky to get to without a car but not impossible.
First you have to get the bus from the airport to Porta Nuova station in Verona and catch the bus to Masceline...the website for the bus timetable is below and as you will see, it is a journey time of approx 1hr 40min.

From Masceline you will take a 20min ferry ride accross the lake to Limone, the website for the timetable is below.

I would not recommend this journey if you have young children, however, if you are all adults then it becomes a bit of an adventure.
