Will Livigno be crowded in March?

by ammonitic

Has anybody experience about skiing in Livigno and a rough estimation how crowded it may be there in the first half of March?

I was many times there. February is top season, in march it is no too crowded, better to go there after the first week of march. Do not forget that livigno it is also a great place for shopping, because it is a tax free area. March is a perfect month to be there because Livigno is one of the coldest valley of the italian Alps, so etter to go there close to spring, and in that period you can be SURE to find a lot of natural snow.
Enjoy Livigno, you'll not regret it.
Ciao.

The town is quite strung out and is well connected by three bus routes, take some time to work these out and it will save you some embarrassment later. Are you in the main town or at the Carousello end, if the latter the Carosello night club was OK and Marco's video bar was good, particularly downstairs later on when it got quite lively.
Below is my answer to a previous question. March should be fine. I like the place. Have a good trip

The mountain restaurants were all quite good, my favourite skiing generally was down from the Costaccia side but it has plenty to offer all over.

The end nearest the main town was the most testing skiing but the very top is connected by not very steep runs so can be a bit tedious.

All in all an excellent resort which I may end up at again this year depending where the best bargains appear.

Travel Tips for Livigno

Getting There

by Leprechaunisms

"Great Roads Ah!"

We travelled 6 hours through the Alps in -24 to get to this place. Was it worth it – your bet it was!

"Livigno AM"

Be very careful when choosing your ski apartment. I believe most are fine but our was 'no so comfortable!' Yes it was warm and clean'ish but the owners had no English, blind and wanted out passports along with the Euro200 deposit. No TV, no micro-wave, no radio or CD and no kettle for coffee! The electricity was dangerous so in short it wasn’t good!

"Ski Time..."

You really must switch mountains at lunchtime to get the best skiing. If you’re getting the ski bus be very careful - some drivers are helpful others think it’s funny to bring you round in circles and back where you begun (it takes about an hour!). Diesel cars (especially Avis rental cars) are prone to breakdown in this very remote area. Don’t expect to get a replacement not even a reasonable human to talk to!!!
