Quiet and Elegant, with Personalized Service

The Antica Locanda Leonardo is a family-run hotel in an elegant 19th century building on Corso Magenta, less than a block away from Santa Maria delle Grazie, the church that houses Leonardo da Vinci's The Last Supper.

It's conveniently located about a 15 minute walk from Stazione Cadorna (where the Malpensa Express airport train stops) and two blocks from the Conciliazione Metro station on the red line. If you want to walk to the Duomo instead of taking the Metro, you can be there in 30 minutes. The #16 tram also runs past the door.

It was the perfect place for us, since we prefer small hotels that offer personal attention. Our room was a nice size, the bed was large and comfortable, and I was surprised by how large and modern the white-tiled bathroom was. Our room faced a quiet garden, and through the open window we could hear the church bells ringing every evening - a beautiful sound.

The owners, Mario and Chiara, are lovely people. One evening we asked about a couple of day trips, and the next morning Mario gave us printed directions on how to get there via public transit. Their staff is also outstanding: Paolo made phone calls to get information for us, and Fabian presided over the breakfast room attentively.

Italian, English, Spanish, French, and Japanese are spoken there.

We had a lovely, week-long stay there and highly recommend it to others.

Unique Quality: Breakfast is included in the room rate (we paid 219 Euros per night), which makes it a good deal. It's served in the second floor reception room every morning from 7:00 to 10:00. Fabian will make coffee for you to order, and there is also fresh-squeezed orange juice, cereal, yogurt, croissants (some filled with ham or cheese), and pastries.

The thing I liked best was feeling a part of the neighborhood. We'd see crowds of tourists standing in line to see The Last Supper and would feel proud that that attraction was near our "home."
