An affordable stay in Milan

We were there for a bachelor goodbye journey - but a quite one - we went shopping instead of drinking ;-) , for a long weekend.

Unique Quality: the hotel is clean, not so far away from the city center (10 min. walk), the breakfast is nice and the staff are very friendly too. They offer triple rooms as well.

  • Opinion of Price: less expensive than average

More about Canada Hotel Milan

Excellent value for the price - enjoy while it lasts

by TripAdvisor Member Jules_et_Jim

We hardly can add anything new to the rest of the reviews of the Canada: rooms have been recently updated and still have this “new” feeling about, particularly the sparking clean bathrooms. Breakfast was also a bit above what you could expect of a Italian three-star hotel.

We stayed in August (not a wise choice for a visit to Milano, mind you) and we were offered a very attractive price. But we guess that it is quite probable that once the renovation works end (and the business season begins) the price policy may go up.

If you arrive by car, take into account that it is not straightforward to leave the car in front of the door of the hotel, because the street is one-way and it goes on the opposite direction. This piece of advice of course does not apply to Italian drivers, who would see no problem at all making an U-turn when they feel it’s justified…

Great Small Hotel

by TripAdvisor Member bardswalk

This hotel is an excellent choice whilst staying in Milan for business or leisure. It is a ten minute walk to the main square and all the sights. The rooms are all recently refurbished and offer excellent and clean contemporary bedrooms and bathrooms. The comprehensive buffet style breakfast offers choices to suit everyone. The staff are wonderful, expecially on front desk - nothing is too much trouble. All in all excellent mid range hotel.

Great room with view

by TripAdvisor Member jclewis

Originally booked hotel in January, but flight was cancelled. Re-booked for March, but at a much higher price, although a change of plan added two more days to the booking which came at half the price.
On arrival we were given keys to the top floor room (802), which happened to come with huge windows, a large sun terrace and amazing views. No furniture out there, but took the chairs and table from room to sit in the sun in the afternoons.

The room had a huge bed, two wardrobes, TV, lots of shelves and drawers, and a small fridge. This had a few soft drinks in - €3 for a can of Fanta. But there is a supermarket right next to the hotel, so you can stock up the fridge with much cheaper drinks. There was no kettle in the room, and they charged €10 to hire one! No shower, but a jacuzzi style bath with a shower head attachment.

Very clean room, but unnecessary for them to change the towels and sheets everyday, and even the soap bar.

Breakfast was from 7-10:30, with lots of fruit, cereal, cake, brioche, egg and bacon, rolls, cheese, ham and freshly made coffee.

The hotel is a 15 minute walk to Duomo, but near two Metro stations. We spent Easter holiday weekend in Milan, so a lot was shut, including restaurants, but walking around we did find some good ones away from the hotel. The hotel doesn't have room service, but it does have a very small bar area for early drinks - didn't go there though.

Loved the hotel and room, but I suppose a bit expensive for the first two nights.

About the triples. And the rooms for half the price around the corner.

The other reviews describe accurately the nice rooms in this hotel.

We had booked a triple because we were travelling with gran. The photos and a few of the reviews here had led me to think that the triple would be adequate. That was not the case. Our room was not a true triple. It was a double in which the couch had been converted into a bed. The room was, simply put, too small for three adults. It was my mistake, I suppose, but I was expecting a very large room or a suite. When we asked about a single for gran, the price quoted was not affordable for us.

So we went around the corner to a four-star hotel. Nice hotel, and the price quoted was less than half. Not just for the single, but for a double as well. I repeat: the four-star hotel around the corner was less than half the price. Needless to say, we switched hotels and got two rooms for the same price.

I want to add that two of the staff found it difficult to deal with my misunderstanding, distress and persistent questioning over the unexpectedly small room. I won't go into further detail.

The rooms here are very nice, but would I say here again? No. I would go to the four-star around the corner for half the price.
