What more could one ask for

Stayed at this hotel for a weekend break in May. It was fabulous from start to finish.

The rooms were among the best I have stayed in.
The service we received was very good from everyone from the Front Desk Staff (especially Riccardo who helped us enormously with restaurant suggestions and travel arrangements to and from the airport)
The service at breakfast was very good. There was only one morning where we had to wait for a vacant table, and it was only for a few minutes.

the location can't be beat. I would definitely stay at this hotel again and recommend it to anyone visiting Milan! Book it, you won't be disappointed

Be Careful!

I read the reviews before going. On arrival I was allocated room 208 (I think) this was a dingy room overlooking an inner 'courtyard' with no daylight at all - truly horrible.

I complained and after a little fuss was given Room 121 which was truly fantastic - dual aspect, huge room with sofa etc and was the same price.

The hotel itself was fine the bar so expensive that no one used it.

Hotel has a great location. It is near the main train station and shopping areas. It also is set in a neighborhood, just off the park so it is nice and quiet.

I loved everything about this hotel. The rooms were large and spacious, the bathroom was extremely luxurious. Internet access (for a fee) directly from the room.

The concierge were helpful and honest - a pleasant experience from start to finish. They also have a spa which I did not get a chance to try (maybe next trip!)

I was concerned about the smoking (even in a non-smoking room) but it was a non-issue altogether. The room I was assigned was competely smoke-free. The only glitch was there was an electrical problem in the room, when we first go there and I turned on the lights, nothing came on. Then there was a knock on the door. Apparently, the house-electrican was already fixing it -- he did it in 10 minutes and we were good to go!

I would highly recommend staying here. I had my doubts before booking and tried to switch to the Sheraton Diana Majestic at the last minute (they were fully booked). But once I got there -- I was really pleased by the entire experience.

Fantastic

We stayed at the Westin Palace for just one night using SPG points. I am a platinum guest and was automatically upgraded to a deluxe suite which was fantastic. We were able to check in early at 12noon and they also gave us a late check out the next day of 5pm. All the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a good location close to the main shopping area. Our room was fantastic, it had a very large bedroom with a study desk, chairs & table, minibar and plasma tv, two bathrooms, our very own steam room, a separate lounge with another huge plasma tv and another minibar, a dining area plus DVD player and a B&O stereo! We did not eat at the hotel as there are so many fantastic restaurants in Milan. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Subway assistance please

by znb

Can someone please tell me which train will take me get MXP airport to the Navigli neighborhood. Also, where would I get off? Thank you!

Re: Subway assistance please

by qaminari

The nearest railway (and metro) station to Navigli is Porta Genova FS, although it might also depend on the exact address you want to go to. For information on transport from Malpensa see http://www.sea-aeroportimilano.it/en/malpensa/index.phtml?mod=milano_artreno&to=come_arrivare. As you can see from that, Malpensa Express trains from terminal 1 deliver you to Cadorna from which you can take metro line 2 (green) to Porta Genova, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milan_Metro_Line_2.

There is also a brand new train service from Malpensa airport to Milan Centrale (cheaper), from where you can also take Metro line 2 to Porta Genova.

Times and fares for both trains in English here:

Travel Tips for Milan

Milano Centrale (Train Station)

by Blatherwick

This has got to be one of the most beautiful train stations anywhere. It opened in 1931. It is located about about 5 km northwest of the Duomo and Galleria. Premium international (EC) service and premium (IC) domestic service connect Milano Centrale with major European cities. Metro Line 3 links Milano Centrale with Piazza Duomo.
