Taxi's That Accept Credit Cards

by steveburnley

I’m going to be spending a lot of time in Milan with work and will have to use the taxi services a lot. I don’t want to keep using cash all of the time as that will become a real pain and not practical; therefore I need to find a taxi company in Milan who will accept credit cards (Visa) as payment rather than having to use cash – can anyone help advise my best options.

I'm just curious why you want to do your commuting by taxi? In most Italian cities, this is the most expensive way to travel, plus heavy traffic can often make it a slower way to get around than by public transit system - of which Milan is said to have a very good one. ???

Maybe because the OP's employer would pay for the taxi, just like mine does in most job-related situations. It's a nice job perk to have, for sure.

All taxi companies have some cars that are equipped with credit card readers; my colleagues often try to book such cars when ordering a taxi by phone. I've never done it myself; the flipside is that you often have to wait longer for such a car to be available. Paying by cash is way easier and faster, besides if you'd have a taxi rank nearby you might not even have to order a taxi and wait for it some 5-10 minutes.

Taxi companies include 4040, 6969 and 8585. Prices and conditions are the same. Bear in mind that if you want to move around within the city center, the underground is often much faster than a taxi. Sometimes even trams or buses might be fast enough for short distances. It does pay off to use public transport from time to time, also because you can hardly work inside a taxi (too hectic traffic and bumpy granite sett street pavement).

Hi Venalin - very good post. Yes, I figured cost might not be an issue - it was the factor of getting around quicker on public transit vs a motor vehicle I was more concerned about.

Travel Tips for Milan

Giardini Pubblici

by Marpessa

A beautiful garden about 10 minutes walk south of the train station. On a map I read that it was called Giardini Pubblici, but I have also seen it as Giardini Indro Montanelli. Either way this is a very beautiful garden. There are a few monuments here, paths, benches or grass to sit on. Beautiful foliage and colourful flowers, fountains and even some small lakes with (small) cavern-like rocks around them. It made me feel not like I was in a garden in a city, but that I was just walking around a park. It was a great place and it was relaxing just to stroll around the garden!

Via Borsieri, and the...

by AgentJX

Via Borsieri, and the surrounding neighborhoods. I am pretty sure that this street truly is off the beaten path. If you take the metro line 3 (yellow) to its last stop Zara and head toward the big circle interchange you are heading into the part of town that I knew the best. Viale Zara, Via Trau, Via Lambertenghi, Via Borsieri and Via Garigliano make up a great place to see an Italian neighborhood. Within these few blocks there are great bakeries, pasta shops, gelatarias, pizzerias, cafes, restaurants, fruit and vegetable shops. There aren’t any sights to see up in this part of town, but it is a great place to go to catch part of the local culture. In addition there is local market the first weekend of every month. People are selling everything from fabrics to food to flowers to little trinkets, and it is always crowded. During the day the whole area is great, but at night the south end which is located near the Garibaldi train station can be a bit sketchy, although I frequently walked through there at night without any problems.

Train

by Heshamshawky

-Train tikets reservtion it's better to collect it directly from station , it's cheeper than automatic machins or from net .
- cheep trians are : Intercity & EuroStar ,it need no reservation ,but Express need so it's higher cost .
- Night train from Milan to Naples @11.20pm
arrive Naples @9.30am , was a v.good in price as a sleeping train .its only E59, comparing with other schedualed in addition to save time .
