price of vegetables

by vijaypschauhan

I am planning to come to Milan for study. I want to make my financial planning for a year stay. Can somebody help me find the price of following vegetables: -
1> Potato
2> Tomato
3> Onion
4> Cucumber
5> Banana
6> Bread

I will be really thankful if somebody can help me out with this. I promise to prepare some Indian food for the person helping me out in this. Please do help me.

Price of food goes up and down in the whole world I suppose. Anyway try to find an outdoor market and you'll find a good choice of cheap vegetables and various food.

Re: price of vegetables

Hy,
MaurizioAgo is right: up and down prices depend on the season...
However, TODAY prices in Milano:
Potato(common): 0.83/0.91€ kg
Tomato(common): 2.32/2.75€ kg
Onion(white) : 1.40/1.61€ kg
Cucumber : 1.92/2.30€ kg
Banana : 1.17/1.92€ kg
Bread(which kind?) : from 2.70€ kg
A suggestion: it's better you buy vegetables in big supermarkets, like Esselunga or Coop, or in quarter markets if you want to save a lot of money.
Hope this helps
Ciao, Marco

Marco deserves a Indian dinner, or lunch for his reply. Surely he goes shopping. I seldom do it.

This is one of those "how long is a piece of string" questions! Prices vary depending on what type of vegetables (e.g. variety of potato), what quality (e.g. organic), where you buy them and what time of year. An annual budget should not be made up on the basis of the price of onions and bananas!
For some costs, see http://www.aimilano.it/cost-of-living-of-milan.php and http://my.lifeinitaly.com/f3/cost-living-italy-5478.html

@qaminari: many prices of these lists are wrong!!!

Travel Tips for Milan

Milan's inhabitants

by Diana75

If you really want to see the most elegant Italians, Milan, as the center of the Italian business and also the Italian fashion life, is definitely the best place to go.

Milan's inhabitants are usually called "Milanese" in English or "Milanesi" in Italian, but informally they are also called Meneghini or Ambrosiani, the last name coming from the patron of Milan, Saint Ambrose.

Packing List

by Stylist

An UMBRELLA is the most important thing to bring to this town- The weather is changing all the time - and its raining a lot!

Comfortable walking shoes are a must - the has to be a lot of walking in this city, mainly because of the shopping but also because its faster to get around by foot in the area around the walking street Corso Vittorio Emanuele.

Fantastic Silverware

by rozehill about Bernasconi Argenteria

Bernasconi Argenteria is a long-established silver shop with a very complete stock of tableware in sterling and in silver plate. Included are some spectacular centerpieces, bowls, serving dishes and candelabra in silver plate, as well as unusual items such as sets of 12 or 24 sterling silver canisters. The shop is renowned for its bestiary in silver and lacquer, featuring peacocks, giraffes, horses, dogs, turtles, owls and more—great as gifts or for forming an interesting collection Very expensive, but looking costs nothing and worth a visit.

Another nice bar in Brera

by Henrik_rrb about Art Café

Another nice bar in the Brera-zone, where you could sit both inside and outside. Personally I prefer to sit outside, since there is more “life” with all the people going around. Actually one of the first bars I went to after moving to Milan (hi Mariana and Christian!). The beer has a good price too, just around 4,50 euro for a beer (which is cheap in Milan…).
Inside it’s quite small, but around 10 tables. The ones close to the windows are quite strange, really high, and you shouldn’t have too many beers in those chairs, as you might get hurt if you fall off from there…

There is also the possibility to eat, although I advise you to not do the same mistake as we did. Came there late one night, after watching football in Verona, and decided we wanted a couple of beers and something to eat.
Unfortunately the kitchen had closed, so all that were left was a strange mix of torta, cake and a bad looking sandwich. Surely the strangest “dinner” I’ve eaten… Except for that time when I had “trippa” of course… ;)
Cow stomach for those of you who didn’t know.

I always have Tennents or Heineken-beer here. Come as you want.

Metropolitana

by coceng

This is the metro system in Milan. It is so convenience as I used it to get around the places around Milan; The Youth Hostel, the train stations etc all within easy reach.
It is also a good way to see all those trendy people in Milan !
