How close is this to Milan City Center?

by AtlanticCanadianeh

I need to travel to Milan for a meeting. My problem is I am having a hard time determining where exactly I need to go for the meeting so I am not sure where to stay.

The meeting is at

via tintoretto
21012 Cassano Magnago, VA

Google Earth/Maps and Mapquest conflict and I need to be sure.

VA stands for VArese. It means you're going to Cassano Magnago, a small town in the Province of Varese.
It's quite near Malpensa International Airport and the A8 highway, but it's 40 kms far from Milan City Center.
If I were you, I'd use .

Travel Tips for Milan

by Gard

So what do you do when you have covered the major attractions in Milan? Well, if you like churches and architecture you can just start walking around. We stopped by Santa Maria della Grazie after we had seen the Last Supper. But once again we came to a church that was partly covered up (inside and outside) due to maintenance. We stopped by San Lorenzo alle Colonne which contains the largest dome in Milan.. But to be honest all the churches that we went to after the Duomo can’t really “compete” against its splendour. If you’re visiting during warmer months, be sure to wear longish legged and armed clothes when visitng churches, otherwise you won’t be let in.

Paolo Maldini - My Rossonero Hero ;-)

by Krystynn

Unless you've just arrived from USA, you'll be forgiven for not knowing who this great man is. ;-) Every country on this Earth (including Africa!) knows who Maldini is - except USA!

Yes, this is none other than Mr Paolo Maldini himself - 4 times World Champion and Captain of AC Milan. He has been consistently voted by the media and fans worldwide as the Best Left Back Defender in the world and was the runner-up in the mid-1990s as World Player of the Year. It's a pity such accolades are usually reserved for the high-profile strikers instead of defenders. Maldini deserves nothing but the best.

In his younger days, way before Mr David Beckham became a style icon, Maldini was approached by Giorgio Armani to model his line of clothings. Knowing the humble Maldini, he declined. If only Mr Beckham has Maldini's humility. (Please - fans of Beckham, don't bombard me with nasty emails!).

Maldini currently marshalls the team in a central defender's role.

General Clothes Shopping

by sierralyndon

If you want to go shopping without worrying too much about designer brands or burning too big a hole in your pocket my suggestions are the following areas:

- Corso Vittorio Emanuele (and all around the Duomo)
- Via Dante
- Corso Vercelli
- Corso Buenos Aires

Try to find an empty chair here...

by Henrik_rrb about Trattoria Toscana

Trattoria Toscana is one of the oldest bars/restaurants in Milan and a very popular place. There is place for 200 sitting persons in the bar, but it’s really hard to find an empty place. Beside the bar there is also a restaurant.

The Trattoria is built like a big garden, which makes you feel like you sit outside although you actually are on the inside. Open from 18.30 to 02.00.

Here you always pay your drink before ordering it at the bar, so remember this so you won’t have to stay in the line without getting anything when it’s finally your turn…

From the outside it looks quite bad, but when you enter and have walked through the alley you’ll find a fantastic place.
Beer costs 4,50-5 euro. Dress nice, and you won't have a problem to get in.

Bicycle parking

by Nemorino

Milan doesn't have much in the way of parking facilities for bicycles.

Occasionally you will find a stand for a dozen or so bicycles (there is one of these in the city center that I know of, near the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II), but most people just have to find something to chain their bicycles to, as in the photo.

Fortunately bicycles do not take up as much space as cars or motorcycles, but soon the city will have to change its priorities a bit. In place of one parking space for a car they could install a stand for twenty bicycles, for example.
