Cheap hotel close to the trainstation

Most of the people who comes to Milan comes to the centralstation. Naturally the area around there are full of hotels. The problem is most of them are 3-5 stars, and expensive as...
5 minutes walk from the station is a great chance for those of you that wish to put the most of the money at other things than the accomandation.
Hotel Arno is a 1 star-hotel, with quite small rooms, but with a friendly atmosphere. Next door there is also Hotel Eva, also that one a 1 star-hotel.
Prices are from 35-40 euro for a singleroom, 50 euro and up for a doubleroom. Toilet in the room, or out in the corridor. No breakfest included, since there aren't any.
Small tv:s in most of the rooms.
Make sure to at least make a contact with the hotel before you leave for you trip, since most of the hotels, including Hotel Arno, is fully booked now and then because of all the big exhibitions in Milan.

If you prefer a more luxury hotel, for, of course, a higher cost, there are plenty of hotels around the station and the "Fiera". But make sure to book a room before you leave for your trip, since it might be fully booked.

Unique Quality: Close to the centrum, cheap, friendly owner.

An excellent place to stay

I had a very nice and comfortable stay when I was at Hotel Arno. I had a single room (with double bed), it had a window looking out onto the street (it had that special glass so you could block out noise from the street below - like the trams). The people who work there are very friendly and will help you with any questions about Milan that you might have. The rooms have great beds, large wardrobe, a desk and chair and a sink and mirror.

The hotel is on the fourth floor, but there is a small lift that you can take up.

A single room for 2 nights (with shared bathroom) will cost you about 52€ p.n (breakfast is not included)

Unique Quality: 24 hour check in, free internet access, private or shared bathroom. They also have a telephone and fax that you can use if you need to.

But really for me the outstanding quality of the hotel was the staff - very nice people.

Far from sleepless in Milan

by mazzzino about Hotel Arno

The small elevator up to the fifth floor is tight and you may need to carry most of your luggage if you been out shopping.
The staff is very kind, extremely helpful and accomodated my every need. I got a plate, cutlery and a small wine glass when I asked for it. I even got help opening the wine bottle when the guy in the reception saw the troubles i had with the cork.
The best thing about the Hotel Arno, besides the great sleep and the shower I took when waking up, is the closeness to the city (five minute walk to the big shopping street Corso Buenos Aires and 10 minutes to the Central Station. Nearness to the city.

help I am in Milan this weekend

by HelenaTroy

will be staying in a hotel by central station, is it a safe area and do any of you know Hotel Arno?

Can you also please recommend some nice reasonably priced restaurants near central station for breakfast lunch and dinner? I would also appreciate some ideas of where to eat near the Dumo? I

I also want to buy some nice boots and shoes (but don't want to pay the earth), any ideas?

Thank you in advance!

Helena

Whenever I am in Milano, I stay overnight in this area, it is as safe as any other big city in Europe, much activity at day and nighttime.

In fact, when I go here it is just for eating in always the same restaurant, unfortunately I forgot its name. It is a pizzeria on Via Vitruvio, not far from the station. If you can't find it, go to the Lady Hotel at Via Settala, which is very near-by, and the night porter will tell you the best pizzeria in the area, which, by the way, has much more than pizze.

Some of the area behind the station is not as safe as other places in Milan. But I walked there in the evening and did not feel real threatened. For someplace to eat near te Duomo you can always go to the Galleria just across the square. Some of the places are a bit pricey but it could be a nice treat for yourself on day. There are also lots of of nice restaurants on the street between the Duomo and the old Fort. Milan is a great city. Have a good time.

As Larry told you, do not go behind the central station after 11: 00 PM, the same goes for the area from hotel Hilton to Viale Zara. There are a couple of Pizzeria's in Via Vittruvio and Corso Buenos Aires, which is not far from your hotel.
