Heading To The SAN SIRO For A Soccer Match...
by Krystynn
What's my favorite thing about Milan?
Definitely - catching a soccer match at the San Siro!
The Giuseppe Meazza Stadio or San Siro was built in honor of the great Italian player, Giuseppe Meazza. The stadium contains a museum dedicated to football memoribilia for AC Milan and Inter-Milan - the 2 teams who call San Siro 'home'. Inside you can find memoribilia, photographs, penants, boots and other items which trace 100 years of the "beautiful game" in Italy. Discover what lies beneath the Italian's passion for football and why Milan and Inter are such popular clubs not only in Milan but also, the world over! I mean, I'm a Singaporean by birth and am also a stauch Milan supporter. ;-)
The San Siro was recently renovated and it now boasts of 2 fully equipped TV Studios.
How's that for state-of-the-art! These Italians are amazing. They are so darn good in everything that they do...!
Summer time in Milan
by Elzbennet
I travelled in to Milano in Summer time and maybe this was a particular hot year. And it was surelly hot! Bring fresh clothes like shorts but also proper ones to visit, for example the Duomo. I took my digital camera with me, with two memory cards, it´s more practical and we can always delete the bad photos. Water! Always equip yourself with a bottle of water for your stroll around the city! I had to buy tons of it or else i would not take such a hot weather!
Souvenirs
by Calcio
One thing is for sure - you won't have any problems finding souvenirs outside the stadium... Half of the 50-100 wagons that are standing in the area are selling scarves, matchshirts, hats and everything else you might need for the game.
The italian in general doesn't wear that much souvenirs when he's going to the game, a regular scarve from his favourite-team is normally enought.
Important to think of before buying from this wagons, is that the majority of the goods are non-official. That makes the prices a lot cheaper, but if you want to go home and show all your friends a "a real Milan-shirt" you'll have to buy it in another place.
The prices is different from wagon to wagon. A scarve normally cost 5-6 euro, if it's official 10 euro. A matchshirt from Inter or Milan cost normally 10 euro. Something to sit on for cold winternights cost 1-3 euro. And from October-mars well spent money, I can assure you... ;)
For official souvenirs, Milan has a "Milan store" in the Navigli, the river-area. Open 5-6 days a week, closes at 18 or 19. Opens at 10 I think.
But the prices there are much, much, higher.
In this shop you can also buy matchtickets during the days before the game.
Inter? I have no idea actually... Will check that up and come back with better info.
The best way to end a night out in Navigli
by Henrik_rrb about La Briocheria
After a long night out in the Navigli-area the best way to finish everything is by going to La Briocheria and take a brioch with nutella inside.
It's amazing... You just want more and more and more...
So be sure to buy at least two of them, so you'll have one in the morning too when you wake up.
The breakfest ever, too...
The place is a small local, but from midnight and until all the places are closed (around four) the place is totally crowded... It's in the middle of Navigli, on a sidestreet, which means that you can be anywhere in the area, but still close.
Don't miss out this place, it might even save you from the hangover in the morning... This nutella-piece is so good it might actually take away your headache... :-) Don't worry, here they will serve anyone!
Getting to Milan by car
by paoseo
My first advice would be to advise anybody against driving to Milan.
It's quite difficoult moving around in Milan.
Milan's ring road is the end point of highway A4 coming from Turin, of the A4 from Venice and Verona; of A1 connecting Milan and Bologna, Florence and Rome; the A7 coming from Genoa and Liguria; and the A8/A9 that go to Switzerland and to Lakes Como and Maggiore. The ring road is divided in Tangenziale Est and Tangenziale Ovest.
