by baserena
The most amazing habit of youngster in Milan is the 'aperitivo': it's an happy hour (18.30-21.00) well accompanied to a massive buffet of tasteful foods. Almast all the pubs and bars offer this service. And follow my suggestion: Milan is the best place in Italy where to have a GREAT COCKTAIL!!!
America Bookstore
by draguza
The bookstore sells all kinds of novels and publications and its offer covers everything from academic and scientific titles to children literature, from books on cooking to poetry and books on art. Of course, the shelves in the fiction section are full of the greatest authors in the history of American literature from classics such as Poe or Twain, through the rebels of the beat generation like Kerouac or Kesey, or the funny and often provocative Vonnegut or Bukowski. Furthermore, you can purchase periodicals from the United States.
For a calm night out
by Henrik_rrb about Navigli
The Navigli is the river-area in the south of Milan. It will take about 20 minutes to go through the area, and during that time you'll have seen hundreds of bars, discos, restaurants and even a McDonalds... :-)
The prices are normally good, around 4-7 euro for a beer and the food is also good. The best time to go there is during the late spring and summer, when all traffic is forbidden there and you can sit in the middle of the street and take a couple of beers. Famous, as the whole Milan, for it's aperitivos. From 5-6 pm all bars have some food for free with the beer/drink, like pasta, pizza-slices and so on. A lot of people go there after work to relax, chatt with friends, and look at the people who goes by.
Trains
by antistar
Milan is a transport hub with direct trains to major cities all across Italy and to neighbouring countries, including Zurich, Naples, Venice, Paris, Rome, and Munich. Italian trains are generally very good value for money.
