There are a lot of museums in Milan that are free admission and, according to me, are worth a visit. The most important ones are: The Civic collections at the Castello Sforzesco, The Civic Archeological Collections in Corso Magenta, il museo di Storia naturale --Porta Venezia--, L'Acquario Civico--- Via Gladio. If you have a look at the site: www.mimu.it/ you'll find plenty of info about all the museums in Milan. Well, I have got a lot of good memories; but what most has thrilled me was the sight of the Madonnina at night. It's really great to see the statue of the Virgin shinning at night. It gives you a sensation of shelter and peace.

It is an industrial city, full of culture, art, history, and fashion, amongst other things. English is not as readily spoken in Milan as it is in Rome, Florence, or Venice. Therefore, if you don't know any Italian, pick up a phrase book or acquaint yourself with some Italian phrases. Try your best with Italian, your effort will be appreciated.

Take a train
by Aurorae
Milan is a very hectic town with a lot of traffic and enormous mess. Do not take a car to go there. Take the train. There are very fast, frequent, efficient and convenient trains from surrounding places, that will take you to the heart of the city, like Suburbano trains or Interregional ones. The main stations are Milano Centrale of course, and then Porta Garibaldi, Porta Venezia, P.Vittoria... The maps are everywhere, you can't get lost! It's very easy to move to and around Milano... The trains are clean and comfortable...
