Gelato - ice cream - glace! Not to be missed!
by Ruthy2001
ICE CREAM! Believe it or not I am not a major ice cream fan - can always resist it in favour of some Cadbury's chocolate but in Milan I did discover some very tasty ice cream shops. Two places I would reccommend would be a little Kiosk round the corner from central station - its at the end of the concourse where you get the bus to the airport. The guy is only open during the summer and is a Sicilian - the prices are very reasonable and the flavours are beautiful - his speciality is "nocciola" which is nut flavour with whole haszelnuts in it - v tasty,,,,
But my favourite ice cream place of all is on Corso Ticinese and is called Gelato Artigianale - they have a lovely flavour called Nocciolato (combine nut and chocolate) which allows you another flavour for the creamy Yoghurt....am I making you dribble yet?!
Tip, Tip, Tip The Waiters!!
by Krystynn
Be generous and TIP the waiters approximately 10% of your total bill as service is generally not included.
But do so only if you have enjoyed your meal. And I'm sure you will. This will also give the Italian waiters even more incentive to excel in their job!
Nuovo Piccolo Teatro - Teatro Strehler
by Diana75
Piccolo Teatro was established as the main theater of Milan and became Teatro d'Europa in 1991 following a governmental decision.
The theater was initially located in the small building in Via Rovello, but today has three rooms: the historical one in via Rovello named Sala Grassi, the one inaugurated in 1987 called Teatro Studio and the new one called Teatro Strehler.
Elf's Inn
Bad Taste
Midnight
by Savo about Elf's Inn
Bad Taste
Midnight
They are all heavy metal pubs. I know a lot of people don't like it much but, since I do, I suggest you to take a look.
Good beer, nice people, good music. I really like the atmosphere, especially at the Elf's Inn. No dress code required. Of course, if you go with a smoking suit, it will make a lot of guys laugh.
Normally black clothes, leather and/or jeans is perfect.
Taxi connection
by marco2005
Since 15th july 2007 a taxi ride from Milan to Malpensa airport is at flat fare, all included.
- Milano - Malpensa airport: 70 euro,
- Malpensa airport - Fiera Polo esterno di Rho-Pero: 55 euro,
- Linate airport - Fiera Polo esterno: 40 euro,
- Malpensa airport - Linate airport: 85 euro.
of course, also in the opposite way.
up to date no flat fee for the taxi ride Milan - Orio al Serio airport.
This fares are effective until 30th june 2009.
Some free advice:
1- the airport flat fares are law enforced. This means that could be applied automatically. But be aware because some taxi driver lost in thought could forget it.
2- remember to smile at the driver. Be a taxi driver in Milan is a very stressful job!!
