Superior hotel, great location
We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights in May this year. The hotel was very easy to find from the railway station and in an excellent location and very quiet. The decor was fantastic, there was no expense spared and the linen was 5 star quality. The reception staff were very helpful and went out of their way to find phone numbers for us and assist us with directions. The bar was reasonably priced and a good start to the night and there were several restaurants nearby. The breakfast was excellent and plentiful. The business centre was a bonus.

Milan's most mediocre hotel
We stayed at the mediolanum overnight and the stay was rather an experience of the disappointing kind.
The Mediolanum is a trendy modern hotel - though all the money has been spent on expensive furniture for the lobby, not on rooms or staff.
Its hidden away near central station - a little difficult to find - and dont rely on the staff to help you out. When we were trying to find the place, the hotel told us that they couldnt help, and to ask a policeman if we wanted to get there. They then told us we were stupid for not having a map. By the way, the reason we were lost was cos the directions they gave were wrong!
The rooms themselves are rather small- the bathrooms are very clean, new and modern. Unfortunately the rest of the room is not. The decor reminded me of a 1960s school room painted as part of a psychological experiment - ours was pink and red and enough to make my eyes bleed.
However, the piece de resistance was breakfast - others have rated the breakfast buffet as grrrrreat. I'd rate it as pointless. When we arrived there was no milk, nor bread, only cereals, butter and jam - so it was rather impossible to have any form of breakfast. When we asked for bread and milk, we were told there was no more. No apologies, no embarrassment!
We paid a last minute price of 60 euros - which i think was hardly worth it. God knows how they get away with charging a rack rate of 380!!!
Dont bother.
