Fashion Week Milan - Milano Moda
by Krystynn
Since Milan is THE fashion capital of the world, why not coincide your trip with the Milano Moda (Milan Fashion Week)?
Twice a year, Milan plays host to two of the biggest and most important fashion shows in the world. This is when you'd see the likes of Gisele Bundchen, Esther Canadas, Kate Moss, Heidi Klum, et al fly in to Milan and strut their stuff on the catwalk. Guys: Are you writing all this down? ;-))
.
These are called "fashion week" and the first is usually held the last week of February and contains all the latest woman's fashion collections that you and I will eventually wear for the Summer.
The second is held in the last week of September and first week of October and exhibits the New Woman's Winter Fashion Collections. Milano Moda as it is known turns the eyes of the world on Milan and as a consequence it is very difficult to find good quality accommodation during this period.
So, if you guys still want to visit Milan during this period - please book your hotel accommmodation way, way in advance. OK?
Fondest memory? Are you kidding me? Bumping into all these supermodels and Milanese women on the streets of Milan, you need to be very confident of yourself and your feminine qualities (ahem...)... otherwise, you'd surely fall into depression.
Guys are known to get terribly distracted during this period too.
Ordering Tickets For The San Siro
by JohnnySpangles
Tickets for Inter Milan games can be ordered and sent internationally from the official Inter Milan website. Alternatively buy a ticket from the ground on the day, I think they're available right up till kick-off. It's a big stadium so not many games sell out. You've probably got sod all chance with Inter versus Ac though.
Fashion for all
by mauro_pd about Armani
I wonder if anybody out there does not know this guy (I mean armani of course); anyhow please be informed a nice building fully dedicated to his activities is placed in via Manzoni, downtown Milan.
You find furnitures, sweets, clothes, parfums, books, flowers and a nice cafe´. Sweets and chocolate are interesting, the rest can be also purchased somewhere else.
Classic bar
by Henrik_rrb about Bar Magenta
Bar Magenta gives me the feeling of an English bar. It’s situated close to the Cadorna train- and metrostation. It’s probably the most classic bar in the whole Milano, opened 1907 (!) and it was actually in this place they started the now very popular “aperitivo”.
It’s said to be crowded with celebrities, but I can’t say I’ve seen anyone… Probably gone there too late in the nights... :)
It’s open all day and evening, from 8am to 03am and you could get there for lunch, breakfast or just some beers in the evening.
There is of course also the possibility to eat, although I wouldn’t rank it as a restaurant.
The most important thing you should think about when entering this place is that you’ll pay in advance. Could be good to know so that you won’t stand in the line for a beer, only to get refused to get anything since you haven’t paid it…
So, directly when you enter, go to the right, and tell the lady there what you want to drink, pay – and you’ll be fine.
They have a lot of different beer and wine here, so I’m sure you’ll find something you like.
Harp, Tennent’s Extra or a Heineken is normally my choice here. Dress normally.
Trains from Stazione Centrale
by Gard
The Stazione Centrale is maybe not the best part of town (homeless people loitering about the bus station and park in front) but the building itself is impressive. It was opened in 1931 and is 207 meter wide and 36 meter high so the entrance is quite spectacular. We took a train to and back from Venice. We bought 2nd class Eurostar tickets at the Stazione Centrale the day before departure for 41 ?. It was not really easy to understand which line to get into to buy the tickets but we got the tickets at least. You can also buy tickets buy using a credit card and a ticket machine but we went for the manual method :-) It was easy to find out which train to get on at the platforms and soon we were on the train making our way to the classical destination of Venezia.
